The Kings got a top prospect from the last draft and a probable lotto pick. Capela is our only really good asset. The other players like Dekker and Harrell aren't hard to acquire and our draft picks will be late 1st, ie ones you can simply buy. I'm not saying they got great value, but we are overrating our assets. We don't have great value either.
Reminder that the 76ers have the right to swap picks with the Kings this season and also get the Kings 2019 first round pick The Kings will quickly become the Brooklyn Nets.
Cousins is the Harden version on defense, which all depends on his mood and if he will like to try. The Kings is still fighting for the playoff spot and they are a tiny market, and yet still they want to let go of the so called best player they had in the last 10 years. Cousins is over-rated. And definitely not worth the risk if your team is no need for any gambles.
Cousins MUST have been adamant on demanding Pelicans only, thats why they got him so cheap. Cousins had to make it clear that he would not sign anywhere else for them not to get a better package. Guess he really wanted to play with Davis. Super sweet deal for the Pelicans.
If this trade is any indication, we might be able to get both for KJ, Ennis, and the 2020 3rd Round pick
It's not a probable lotto pick. Look at the standings. The Pelicans are 2 1/2 games out of the playoffs BEFORE getting Cousins. The Kings are gonna fall behind them soon. And the Nuggets and Blazers aren't exactly scaring anyone. New Orleans(barring injuries) is a virtual lock to make the postseason.
they could give the warriors a run for their money. and spurs have always had trouble with the pelicans because of AD. now throw in cousins.
I bolded the key part, since we are talking about a team led by Anthony Davis. He hasn't played 70 games in a season yet.
The people who think the Kings should have dealt with us aren't for real Nevertheless, this was a horrible HORRIBLE trade for the Kings. The Kings are hoping Hield has a Harden breakout with them. I don't see it happening. I am shocked that they would trade Cousins without a guaranteed lottery pick. Just brutal.
Don't know about that. New Orleans is really weak in the backcourt...even more so now. It's basically going to be the AD and Cousins show. Denver is the better team right now.
Cousins ain't reliable either. But I'm just saying, the odds of the Pelicans making the playoffs went up exponentially tonight.
The Kings technically did not give up on Cousins, they traded him because he will not want to stay there (commit to sign a long term contract). The Thunder actually decided to get rid of Harden because they clearly valued him not worth the contract he asked. Those are different situation.
In my opinion, just the opposite. When New Orleans fails to make the playoffs, and fails to sign another star this summer, which leads to Boogie walking next summer...they likely end up looking like Brooklyn.
Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney Pels offered Tyreke Evans, 2017 1st rounder and future pick for Jahlil Okafor. Same package for Cousins, but with Buddy Hield added. BUDDY! I'm so done.
