We fired all of our defensive coaches. What does that mean for the system? Will we continue with the switch everything defense next year or will we see a new scheme? I hope we get rid of that philosophy so we can play big without getting burned. Putting Capela vs Curry on the 3 point line was just stupid and a big key for why he sucked so bad vs GS. Maybe that’s what Harden was talking about that needs to change.
scheme all depends on your personnel. coming up with some defensive scheme not knowing who's gonna be here next season is pretty silly you pulled a @BigBum
Nah. Our offensive system isn’t changing no matter what players we have. We will change coach after coach if they don’t run Morey’s offensive system. The question stands about defense. The front office fired every defensive coach. Is it because they didn’t run the system the way Morey wanted or does Morey want a new system? All anyone ever wants to talk about is offensive analytics. I’m sure Morey is running analytics on the defensive side of the ball too.
well this is incorrect. I'd say if capela wasn't here and they got a big that could shoot, he definitely isn't playing like capela. if they got rid of EG, the player coming in probably isn't hoisting up all the 3s he is. So umm yeah the players do change how the system is run. this was a really strange post. stop pulling a @BigBum it makes no sense
Maybe this will make sense to you. Why did Morey fire every defensive coach? Does he want to change systems? Or does he want someone to run the same system but better? We all know what he wants for the offense. The defense is the mystery.
Never mind. Let’s just talk about random trades all summer despite the fact that we let every defensive coach go. Apparently that’s much more interesting to you guys than whether Morey wants a new defensive scheme or just some other coach to run it back again...
Everyone who replied to you is talking about defense. Why did you randomly mention offense? The poster you quoted is right - without knowing who is going to be on the team, there's no way to tell what our defense is going to be like.
My comment is IF we are going to try to develop a defensive scheme outside of everybody switching with a big dropping.... Then to have any chance of success against the Warriors and others doing that we will have to acquire multiple high energy quickfooted defenders who will consistently climb over the picks. Because that is NOT who Chris Paul and James Harden and Eric Gordon are. And neither can even Tucker manage that effectively for a full season and then through the playoffs. Rivers would be good doing that. But we'd need at least two more guys that can do that along with hitting a 3 ball at a good efficiency.
Much the same....some different personnel. I’m hoping for some greater size at “wings” and improvement of Gary Clark. Basically Gary Clark was “red shirted” last season.
Welp... if we're doin another year of MDA - without the benefit of Bzdelik... I'm figuring we're gonna continue shooting an inordinate # of 3's... and we'll probably devote all of 30 mins a practice to defense... so I'm thinkin Buddy Ryan coined the phrase when referring to the 'run and shoot' - Chuck n Duck! Chuck for the offense... and just duck on defense....
I’d just like to be able to utilize Capela (or any legit big man) better defensively. He is our in house developed player. We need to implement a system such that he stays in the freaking paint where centers belong. Grab boards, block shots, intimidate guards. Stop chasing curry around the 3 point line with your damn center. Other than that I was fine with our scheme. I hope that’s why every defensive coach on the team was sent packing. Call it fired, let go, not resigned, whatever semantics you wish. Morey and Tilman showed all of them out the door. The reason why still isn’t clear from what I’ve read.
