I am a resident of Long Island in the glorious State of New York. I am forced to listen to a very long Island radion station while at work as there is too much concrete for me to get the Conneticut, Rhode Island and Masachusets stations I prefer. Listed to the average string of assd currently being spit out of your radio and tell me what you hear My station WLIR-modern rock seem to play a hell of a lot of retro 80's wich is fun for work and not offensive to others. The adds -Cosmetic surgeon A -Club B -Salon C -Bar D -Cosmetic Surgon E -Make a wish foundation (the freaky thing is I am pretty sure I know the girl in the ad) A string of music More adds Bar F Lounge G Club clothes store H Club new Years party I Cosmetic Surgon J (yes 3 diff ones) Salon K Boutique L (sounds like they have slutty clothes) More songs and pretty much repeat What is it like is houston? My fav Radio station 103.7 FNX from CT RI MA generally plays much harder modern rock like system of the down, evenescence, linkin park etc. their adds have no Cosmetic surgons, but just as many strip clubs and they have car dealerships, and plenty of christmass gift type places (electronics, clothes, etc) What is it like is houston?
well, i rarely listen to the radio but when i do it's 94.5 the buzz. Here is their playlist http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/rronline/Stations.asp?c_let=KTBZ-FM
There's a kick-ass radio station up where I am, based in Northampton, Mass. Here's their playlist: http://wrsi.com/ic/playlist?id=6dzY7KLB&mv_pc=8 When I'm Houston, I usually tune in to 90.1.
Commericals on pop stations blow my mind also. My favorites are the bails bondsmen, and the viagra knock offs. They do tell you alot about society.
Although the corporate suits have recently had an impact on the commercialism of KGSR in Austin (107.1) it is still a great station. KGSR
KTRU! I like the ads even. Public service announcements read in monotone (with the occasional attempt at sounding interested by emphasizing a word here and there). And the music is, for the most part, far more interesting than anything one will ever hear on some Clearchannel® garbage transmitter. Granted, sometimes the DJs at KTRU play unlistenable skronk music just to be more-avant-garde-than-thou, but it's a small price to pay for the wide and weird selection of music, the total lack of corporate advertising, and the perpetual absence of mediocre mainstream ear-gunk. Anyone who listens to it for an entire day will likely come away with a new favorite song, and a new least favorite song as well - you get the best and the worst instead of the boring middle.
I know they do. I've heard the lunch dj, afternoon dj and last night caught the late night guy. What a joke, it seems that the buzz is trying to turn into 104 KRBE. You can't tell a difference between the DJ's on those two stations now.
The only radio commercial that sitcks in my mind is the most annoying commercial ever: JARED'S JEWELRY It is a woman singing "At Jared's......" then comes the grating saxaphone!!!! OMG! Make it stop!!!
Doesn't Jared have that call of the wild in it? Is that a saxophone? I thought it was a woman yelling.
Yeah, it's unlistenable on Friday nights. Just drone-noise-experimental nonsense. Definitely the best station in town, though. Great thing for me is that on the radio at work 91.7 is in the exact same dial position as 610 AM, so I just have to switch the AM-FM back and forth.
