I don't keep up with hip hop or rap nowadays but is this what you listen to now? Can you introduce me to more crap, I mean rap? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/DPC9erC5WqU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/kT3OQwyvKmk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/mJ5k6udvyec" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If you can't beat them, join them. I'm tired of being the get off my lawn old guy now, I'm just going to shut up and listen to your music. If this is what you kids listen to, so be it.
Lecrae usually doesn't do trap music, but I like this song from him: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/umXa8oGy2yo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Trap music is all about the producer/beat maker. If the beat is hot and the hook is catchy, you got a hit. As a musician and beat maker I enjoy trap music for that reason, and I'm working to maybe one day make that one hit. When I'm in the mood to hear real music or express myself on the keys, then trap music isn't the answer. But when I'm just looking to have some fun listening to or making music, then trap it is.
I can't think of one trap rap song that I enjoy. It's definitely a subgenre of hip-hop that I stay far away from. It's pretty much the most ignorant version of rap possible. Here are some artists that released good hip-hop albums last year: Black Milk Run the Jewels (Killer Mike & El-P) Freddie Gibbs & Madlib CunninLynguists Ratking Open Mike Eagle PRhyme (Royce da 5'9" & DJ Premier) Souls of Mischief Cormega Your Old Droog Ghostface Killah Your time would be much better served checking out any of the above artists.
Just like in any genre of music (Hip hop, Country, EDM) there is a foam on top of Pop music. You can't knock these guys for knowing what sells. When something sells others follow the money.

Trap rap isn't something you listen to because its so good, its just something you turn on in the background to get the adrenaline pumping. It has no substance, but that's okay. Not my favorite sub-genre but its not terrible.
check out an album produced by dj muggs called base in your face now with laziness proof embed get some subwoofers and turn the volume all the way up <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/N68Xja8MPTs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

^Welp, I completely forgot about Danny Brown. I love his stuff and I guess a little bit of the stuff on his last album could be considered trap. But his lyrics aren't anywhere close to the what you generally hear in typical trap songs.
I used to LOVE trap music.... Then I grew up. It's all fun and games to listen to this stuff as entertainment... but then you take a step back and realize there are people out there who really listen to this, internalize the lyrics and let it shape their worldview... crazy stuff. I can't listen to more than 5 trap songs in a row before my head hurts.
