    @WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
(More) “In the end, David didn’t like that the players were dictating where they wanted to go,” source says.

League source on killed deal: “…(Stern) wasn’t going to let Chris Paul dictate where he wanted to go.”

But how is he gonna dictate where chris paul goes when he is a free agent next year?

I never thought there could be a commissioner worse than Roger Goodell.

    Looks like I was wrong.

If he's a free agent, that's his choice. While he's under contract, teams should do what's in their best interest.

Though, ironically, the Hornets had a pretty decent deal on the table. The NBA hurt the New Orleans franchise by rejecting this trade, it looks like.

    Stern is an egomaniac

How is this deal worse than what is going to happen with Paul next?

Yes but Stern stopping the trade didn't keep the teams from doing what's in their best interest. Keeping Chris Paul is not in New Orleans best interest.

Chris Paul didn't even demand a trade he just said he wouldn't sign an extension with Boston if he was traded there. Stern ruling on this makes no sense at all.

With all this said, Bud Selig is still the worst commissioner in sports right now.

I'll be laughing my ass off when Paul and Dwight and everyone else will now form up more and more superteams to spite David Stern in the free agency.

    ****ing dumbass.

Kobe + Paul should have been let alone and he should have blocked the inevitable Dwight Howard to Lakers instead. He jumped the gun.

nba will want to sell NO, so if they let paul walk next summer and without any value returned. wouldnt that effect the value of the franchise?

The guy thinks he invented basketball, ESPN has an article about him hinting at retirement (I know ESPN is like TMZ) but I can't wait till he's gone.

Is it legal to block a trade because a player is dictating where he wants to go? even though that's not even where he got traded too.

Sounds like grounds for a lawsuit.

So, what about the players that were involved in this whole ordeal? this really sucks. If you're gonna stop the trade, y let it build up? Stern is ruining the NBA.

I like superteams. I think the number of NBA teams should be cut in half. That would be sweet.

They won't be so super because we would not see as many bad players relative to the super heroes. LeBrons and Wades are great because we have to watch players like Joe Johnson be the best player on another team.

30 teams is fine. Maybe a team or two could be relocated.

I'd rather see Chris Paul on a good team.

If the owners can have their little amnesty clause for ****ing up, then players should have an unwritten amnesty clause (and they do) in the form of tanking and demanding a trade if their owners/gms don't commit to building around said player.

Good job David Stern, instead of New Orleans getting 3 above average starters and a couple of draft picks, they will instead get nothing when Paul walks in free agency.
