So I am looking to get a dash cam for both of my vehicles, but there are so many to chose from and the price range is crazy. So what are some of y’all s experience with your dash cams and what would y’all recommend? I’m not trying to break the bank, but I would prefer they record HD video and have the ability to transfer video to phone/computer. Also does the sub glare affect video quality? I drive towards the sun in the morning and on the way home from work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Some advice: the dash cam will pay for itself so don't cheap out. It is the best car insurance you can buy. You also don't need the most expensive. Plenty of reliable mid-range brands. Get a good microSD card. Not all memory cards are meant for constant rewrites. Look for a high endurance card that is 64GB minimum.

My preference is the Viofo A119S. Good video quality at day and night, reliable and affordable, fairly discreet. I put a polarized lens on it (CPL) to reduce glare from cars and sunlight, plus reflections from inside the car. The Viofo A129 duo is a two-camera system where you can wire the second camera to the front and that has WiFi to transfer files. Not a big plus for me since I keep a microSD to microUSB reader to transfer to my phone in my glove box. I would recommend running a front and rear cam if you can.

Some models have parking mode to be constantly on, but usually triggered by movement to start recording. You need to hardwire that into your car if you are tech savvy.

Another thing, I personally turn off any GPS and speed stamp. I'm usually driving a few MPH over the limit and don't want the dash cam to indicate that.

I've had this one for about 4 years and it's worked great.

Assuming you live in Houston or somewhere with hot summers, it's survived sitting in my car during the summer pretty well. What ever model you end up getting make sure it has a capacitor.

The only complaint I have with it, out the box the default language was set to Chinese which took some guessing to fix. And even after switching English, the menus are a little difficult to navigate.
