Yao Ming remains the key to everything for the Rockets. That's the bottom line, right, Daryl Morey?

    “Yes,” he said.

After all of Morey's precise calculations and smart moves, the most important step to making the Rockets serious contenders next season requires a leap of faith.

“We have to bet on Yao,” the general manager said. “There's no other way to go at this point.”

That's because there's no one else who comes close to doing the things Yao can do. That is, unless Yao opts out of his contract, and there's no reason to think he will.

For one more year, but the way they are lining up expiring contracts and cap flexibility for next year is amazing.

They are hoping Yao comes back but if not, they will be positioned for a quick rebuild with all those expiring contracts.

Duh? I guess. Not sure what Justice wants to say beyond the obvious.

Yes, 20/10 all-star centers tend to be important when you want to contend. What's next? He's going to say how Lebron is critical to the Cavs championship aspirations?

I wonder what he thinks New York is going to do with all that cap space they're building for the off season...

Brook lopez would look nice in a rockets uni in place of yao. Maybe if the nets strike out and with the demand of filling the new arena. we can trade yao for lopez. They can resign yi and have their lotto pick and make the playoffs.

DM is going to rebuild the Rockets front court this summer either by free agancy or the draft. Demarcus Cousins or one of the PF/C's coming out this year makes this a great draft for Houston to be in the lottery.

Yao would lose money if he signed straight up with the Knicks, and there's no way we would do a S&T with them.

unfortunately we have to hinge all our hopes and championship aspirations on a injury prone giant which isnt too reassuring considering the consistency of his injuries but rite now this is still the Yao era and we have to ride it out but this is more of the last hurrah of the Yao era pretty soon we need the player thatll take us into the next era and hopefully he'll stay on the court

he's just saying that. every move he has made has been to make this team younger, more athletic, and to fit adelman's system. and all the draft picks are setting up for a potentially epic summer.

if yao is good to go, it's really a big bonus at this point.

we all know morey has back-up plans and they're all in full effect.

Im really curious to see how the martin/brooks combo works with yao. All i know is that the lane might get smaller for the two but yao is gonna get a lot touches from rebounds off of missed layups
