Daryl Morey says Harden may be the best ISO player EVER... True or false?

his iso numbers this year are gaudy... similar to curry a few years ago shooting 3s. a good 20-30% better than everyone AT VOLUME. i dont know isolation stats from different eras, but it's eye raising for sure.

 

I thought about adding him as well.

When we say isolation, does that necessarily mean the player in question makes the shot? For example, I would say Kobe is better at ISO than Harden, but if Harden ISOs and passes to a wide open Ariza for a three, does that still count? If so, he's number one.

 

Harden's ISOs tend to come off switches. Jordan and Kobe were superior ISO players.

Yea we are all aware of that. The fact still remains that Harden scores at a higher point per possession.

 

It's because of statements like these and continuous lobbying for Harden for MVP that makes the media and other fans hate the Rockets and Harden in particular.

Morey does not need to attract negative attention with these sort of moronic statements.

I am not even sure Harden is the best isolation player ever on Rockets history. Hakeem won the Rockets two championships with his isolation play. Rudy's offense was basically dumping the ball into Hakeem in the post the entire game and let him go to work. The other teams had two choices. Either single cover Hakeem and let him get his or double team him and let others get the 3 pointers. Simple. That's all there was to that offense. Rockets won two champions because no one could stop Hakeem one on one.

So until, Harden can take this team to the promised land even once, I dont even consider him the best ISO player in Rockets history.

TBH morey was just marketing his team. He probably said that simply to put them in the media cycle.

Harden will never be the greatest at anything even if he is. If Rockets sweep warriors 5-0 in playoffs everyone will make excuses for warriors and still say warriors are the greatest team, ect.

 

I dont see anyone stopping him 1v1...so yes, easily. He got handles, shots, and a big ass beard.

Yes. I don't understand how this is complicated for you. The coaches/schemes are more complex and efficient today. Therefore players get easier shots. Good for them for using intellect to improve.

Exactly. Calvin Murphy might even be better, cannot judge, but I think iso player needs to be defined too. People seem to think it's simply a guard or wing who takes a guy 1-on-1.
