Against Amare? He can lose his man. Hill had some great blocks out there, against wing players driving to the hoop or against guys getting rebounds and trying put-backs. But any time Amare faced up against Hill, he would simply spin to his right for the open layup or dunk. Hill simply isn't quick enough to guard that spin move, against nearly anyone.

Jordan Hill has GOT to learn to play defense with his lower body. Sometimes he'll do it, but more times than not he forgets to move his feet.

I didn't get to watch tonight's game, but who did Amare get his points on? Chuck, Brad, or everybody's "Olajuwannabe", Hill?

He got them on Chuck mostly, but he took an ENORMOUS amount of shots to get them, and Chuck stole the ball from him at least 4 times.....

It was probably the quietest 25 points I have ever seen.

His points were mainly 15-18ft jumpers and a couple on Hayes in the post but his baskets in the post were outnumbered by Chuck's strips of the ball.

In addition, it was really obvious in the second half at least (wasn't around for the first) that Amare was hell-bent on proving that he could score on Chuck. So whenever he got the ball, he just attacked Chuck again and again Don Quixote style, which in addition to not being inefficient ended any ball movement which D'Antoni ball needs in order to thrive. That was another benefit I noticed. Or maybe Amare doesn't pass the ball in general on those iso sets, but I wouldn't know.

    Give credit to Amare.

He shot 11-21, which is over 50%.

But overall Chuck did do a pretty good job on him.

He got over 50% on a last minute uncontested dunk when the game was out of reach. Even including that dunk, it was not an efficient game. He got 25 pts on 24 attempts at the basket (21 FG attmepts, 3 pairs of FT attempts) for a way-below average TS%. It's worse when you account for the fact that he turned th ball over an unusually high 5 times.

As a defensive team, you probably take that kind of efficiency from a the opposing team's high volume shooter all day every day, especially when he's not creating easy opportunities for any of his teammates, either.

Ahh I completely forgot about the last dunk.

Fair enough, I missed the third quarter, but seems like Knicks could now easily be one of our farm teams simply because Hayes gives a lot of problems to Amare, and if Amare is not helping the team then the rest of the Knicks are in trouble.

I have to give credit to the 6'5" Hayes. Amare was held to 1 and half points under his season average, had only 5 rebounds, and the Knicks lost the game. Way to go, Chuck!

The key to why Chuck's defense was about more than Amare's point total is because he took the whole Knicks offense out of it's rhythm by annoying Amare and guarding him one on one.

Because no one had to double team they were able to keep the Knicks off balance the whole game.

Lowry did a good job on Felton as well. The fact that the Amare/Felton pick and rolls were unsuccessful had a lot to do with why we won the game.

    Great work by Chuck.
His responsibility is to guard those guys.
Those who can't score well against Chuck must be All Stars...

I wonder if people still think Brooks' defence is on the same level as Lowry's ;)

He shut him down again. It was so bad they had amare coming off screen like a shooting guard to score. Amare got most of his points off of jump shots

Doesn't this mean Morey is a Moron for not trading for Amare if we're bragging about our elite post defender holding him to 25 on over 50% shooting?
