Say hello to your new Houston Rockets owners:

They already have the Summit and bring Jesus (+5.7 Real Plus Minus, close to even more NBA players than Bobby Brown) to the Rockets' side.

I mentioned this guy (his dad, the founder, just passed away and son taking over) when the for sale news broke so I'm not surprised.

Still better than our current uniforms. I like it. Let fans smoke Hookah during the game.

I don't think he has enough money to buy the Rockets.

Wow! Really? You're going to be the dumb white guy who thinks China and Japan are the same country? Their cultures are so different, especially their political views. Japan couldn't more further from communism (other than the pro-whaling propaganda that they feed their citizens).

The answer is Texas and Louisiana not china or Japan.
It's a network of dealerships in the gulf coasts who own Toyota dealerships

Someone gets it but I would not bet on it in the coming months or years. It is all about policy there. Once that is lifted, it could happen.

I agree. Fertita woud be the worst possible "Houstonian" owner I can think of. He's worth several hundred million less than Friedkin, Friedkin doesn't have any rumored connections with unsavory types (that I know of), and Fertita has had the rumor of undesirable business connections (the Mob, in other words) following him for a very long time. His investments in Vegas probably don't thrill the league, either. Friedkin is already associated with Toyota, which is a plus, in my opinion. I don't doubt that the names of more possible owners will be floated around. One thing I feel strongly about is NO foreign ownership. That, and a local owner with "minor" partners like Hakeem, if he is interested. He might be, since it's a good long term investment, in my opinion.

I can't tell if people are being sarcastic or if they really think someone with say 2 billion can't or wouldn't buy the Rockets?

The organization is a cash cow. As long as somene can get the loan - and even people with 10 billion + would get a loan - they will be interested in buying the Rockets. Financial institutions would love to lend that money. People with a couple of billion could easily afford it AND not be cheap when it comes to $$$ decisions. There are only 5-6 owners with more than a few billion in net worth, and the majority are not the most succesful organizations. Les is apparently worth a couple billion.

The only thing that matters is whether these people are actually either:

    1) Real fans who believe in the existing set up; or,
    2) Have demonstrated a pioneering management mindset.

So $$ debates aside, would this guy be a good owner? What's the word on him?

What is your reservation with foreign ownership? I see foreign owners with infinite amount of money helping teams all across sports. See PSG buying Neymar with Qatar money. I see maybe it being less desirable if a team was in a fringe sport city that could move at any time, but no one is moving a team out of Houston.
