Looks like Dan Fouts will be with Al Micheals for Monday Night Football. The search is still on for a third broadcaster. I hope its not Rush Limbaugh. What do you guys think about OJ Simpson joining Fouts and Micheals? Just think of the ratings!!! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/comment/martzke.htm
I think Barkley should be the third guy. A real "color" guy. uh, I dont mean that in a bad way. ------------------ No signature for you!
I second the notion of Bark joining MNF. I also hope it's anyone but Rush. ------------------ I AM SPARTACUS
Eisner has already pulled the plug on Rush in the booth. Supposedly, other Disney executives pushed hard for him, but were overruled. I think Michaels, Rush, and Paul Maguire in the booth would have made for dynamite television. ------------------ [This message has been edited by grummett (edited June 21, 2000).]
Mr. Clinton will be needed a job too, right? I could go along with Charles Barkley in booth. He atleast is an athlete. Besides he made a heck of a fullback in Dreamcast NFL 2K (and Dream isn't a bad tight end either, Sir Scarvajal (my QB) just had to lob it up there for him to cacth. Dream is a little weak on the blocking though). ------------------ "The Rockets were ahead of the Suns by 20 late in game 2 of the series, but when the going got tough, we just Pippened . We would not be done in the series though."
I heard on the radio that its gonna be Dennis Miller in the booth. ------------------ No signature for you!
I like the idea of Dennis Miller in the booth, but I think they should frshen it up a bit by rotating the celebrity. Maybe have Rush do three weeks, then Gary Shandling for three weeks, then somebody else for a few. It would keep me watching and that's the bottom line. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Dennis Miller?!?!?!? Looks like I'll be hitting the MUTE button on my remote a helluva lot this fall! ------------------ Bring It!!
Miller was occasionally funny when he was with SNL. I don't find him funny at all now. To me he is a poor man's David Letterman and that is not a compliment because I find Letterman to be only mildly funny. People say that his humor is "Dry humor"? Does that mean not funny at all? I will be surprise if Miller last the whole season. My gut feeling is that he will be out before the 9th game. Talk about gimmicks, I thought the NBA's "miking the coaches" was gimmicky, this is even more ridiculous. What's MLB going to do next to top these leagues? Getting Pam Anderson & Carmen Electra to be ball-girls or umpires?
While I hold no ill feelings towards Miller, I think this is a very strange thing they are doing. Maybe Miller knows a lot about football, but it will be odd. Will he throw out bits of political humor while he is at it? Michaels: "Tennesee has the ball at the 20.." Miller: "Hey, did you know that the Governor of Tenessee is so dumb that..." Michaels: "Intercepted! Ball down at the 35" Miller: "So, anyway, The Governor recently said.." Huh? ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000 [This message has been edited by rimbaud (edited June 23, 2000).]
Probably not, but having them as topless dougout-roof dancers would be pretty cool! ------------------ Bring It!!
I think we need the comedy, but keep it to a minimum. For example, I think Sportscenter is out of control. A lot of it is funny, but sometimes you just get sick of all the humor and just want to enjoy the highlights. The Sport should be the focus, but every once in a while I want to laugh at something we all see the same way, but could never say it the way Miller could. It could be good, but it could get overdone as well. Anything is better than Dierdork. ------------------ humble, but hungry. [This message has been edited by PhiSlammaJamma (edited June 23, 2000).]
Dennis Miller on MNF? What a pity the mute button isn't selective. I like the addition of Fouts but he'll probably get lost somewhere between Michaels play-by-play and Miller's shtick. ------------------
