I described the Culbertson home run as him looking like a jobber who was walking down the entry ramp on his way to fight Goldberg back in the day. He was just walking down high diving anyone and everyone he could, skipping around and whatnot. Might as well have been wearing a black speedo and boots.
It is amazing how unexcited everyone was when he got back. Compare it to Puig's HR to leadoff the 10th where everyone was super stoked even though they were still down 1.
The below is an excellent article on the 2017 home run rate and the ball being juiced. Not to pile on the OP, but this came out in June. Old news... DK is fine: https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/14...spike-juiced-ball-testing-reveal-155cd21108bc
Everyone is saying the ball is juiced... affecting sliders the most... this narrows bullpen options even more... https://www.theringer.com/2017/10/31/16580364/world-series-astros-dodgers-slick-baseball-claims
These are two different things. Keuchel and others have said the ball has been juiced all year. The Dodgers and Astros say the World Series specific balls are slicker which makes it hard to throw pitches like a slider. The slickness has nothing to do with the ball being juiced.
The slicker ball thing seems to be real. Kenley Jansen has looked very mortal for a guy with 3 straight sub 0.8 WHIP seasons. Likewise, I wonder if Giles has been neutered in part because he can’t throw a slider anymore. Even Peacock, a guy with a recasting slider, seems to have completely abandoned it. Surprisingly, Gregerson seems unaffected... but he’s a guy I would be worried about.
