    Super creepy.

You've probably never heard of FamilyTreeNow.com — but it likely has a shocking amount of your personal information posted for everyone on the Internet to see. The genealogy website is free to use and all you have to do is type in a person's name and up pops a list of home addresses, birth year, age, and links to family members which then lead to their personal information, as well.

Word of the site is spreading, with organizations like Enough is Enough, an online community advocating for the safety of law enforcement, posting warnings to members about how dangerous it is to have home addresses of officers — and everyone else — so easy to find.

The site appears to be pulling its information from public records, but it's unclear why a genealogy site would need to include a comprehensive list of information like home addresses without users' permission. Other sites which gather personal information from public records often require subscriptions or fees to access — but this one is totally free and extremely easy to use.

The good news is, you can opt out of the service.

    Here's how:
    1. Search for your name.

    2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click, "Privacy."

    3. About halfway down that page, click on the link to "Opt out here."

That's weird stuff. I'm "associated" with many people. Including multiple ex girlfriends, and my stepfather's ex wife that he divorced in the early 80's.

Wierd for sure. Even more, the phone number that they had listed for me seemed very familiar, but I can't recall where it's from.

Thanks for the heads up, @Azadre. They don't have much on me but as usual w/ emerging technology people will use it for nefarious uses it wasn't intended for.

I'm basically a ghost, hahah, my family is on there... But I'm super limited like nothing and all wrong info... I wonder where the data is sourced exactly. I've been pretty low key, but I do know my name is in public records due to owning a house.

I looked up George H. Bush. This will probably be my last post since the secret service knows I have his phone number now.

At lot of that is 10+ years out of date for me at least. I am confused though. There is an amazon gift list for me from 2001, and I have no idea how or why I would have created it. It's not associated with my current amazon account.

Never mind. Figured it out. It was an orphaned Amazon account with an email from my 2001 days.
