Yes, where do we rank in the 3 games CP3 has played in. I expect the Rockets to be top 5 by season’s end As you pointed out GSW are 5th at 103.2 while Houston is 104.9 But, you know, injuries happen
Well, I will give Bzdelik some props for game prep and planning defensive matchups or scheme I was not a fan of Bzdelik head coaching at Denver; but he makes do with what he has/had at Grizz and Rockets
Bev is like your local kid that has talent but a hard luck start that make it with heart and grit. VS CP3 THE PLAYER that others are judge by —> the measuring stick to ALL other point guards. One makes a wonderful Disney movie the other a ring. We can say on the defense side only BUT the offensive side helps the defense so much by not putting unnecessary pressure on the defense with ball control and clock management.
It’s worse than our regular D Rating because of the Warriors game. Once we get a bigger sample size both will go down.
Always thought that Beverly was more "noise" than substance. He is very distracting and jumps around a lot. CP3 is the smarter more substantial defender. Beverly was also very fragile. CP3 has been hurt, but overall he is more durable.
True. And defensive stops were not a top priority in the 1st game vs the Suns (blowout) Just like the 13th or so defensive ranking prior to CP3 return. Hoping top 5 feasible
You can simplify it with something like this: Bev Man to man defense - 92 Strength - 90 Size/length - 85 Lateral speed - 90 Hands - 90 Defensive awareness - 70 Overall - 88 Paul Man to man defense - 95 Strength - 95 Size/length - 75 Lateral speed - 85 Hands - 99 Defensive awareness - 99 Overall - 92 The truth is that Bev is great defender and an amazing fit next to Harden. There are probably only 1-2 players in the league that can be a significant upgrade in terms of both defense/offense. Paul is just one of them.
Believe it or not, CP3 is rebounding better than Bev this year and has better career rebounding stats by a slim margin.
Chris Paul is probably only matched by Lebron in terms of court vision, both on offense and defense. Harden is getting there on offense but will probably never get there on D. In his first game back, on this first highlight play, watch this steal he gets (at 0:00:08): Compare that to Lebron's steal last week: In both cases, they know what the play is that the other team is setting up; they know where the ball is about to go and they jump the route almost before it happens. You can debate his on-ball defense as an aging player in comparison to Beverley, but I think in terms of his role as a floor general on both ends, we're going to see an improvement going from Pat to Chris.
