Fudge, are we going to have this discussion for the next 4 years? I'm already over it. CP3 can't get past a defender; CP3 can't stay healthy in the playoffs; CP3 and Harden don't get along; Westbrook can't shoot when left wide open; Westbrook plays poorly in the playoffs; Westbrook and Harden are both low-effort defenders.

We were kinda boned in either scenario. Perhaps we should have never extended CP3 in the first place... who knows. No matter the case, we're now stuck with Westbrook and Tilman Jr will be our GM in a few years. As we become the Knicks of the south and plunge to the deepest depths of the NBA, I'd prefer to not spend our last few years of fake-contending arguing over CP3/Westbrook.

    Westbrook over Paul...all day.

It was a miracle we were able to get out from under that horrible contract. $40+ mil for a old, injured, 15 ppg player. Good luck to OKC trying to find a trade partner for that crap before it's an expiring contract.

If Westbrook doesn't work out this year...he still has trade value. We can get a good return back if this experiment fails. I think it will succeed, btw.

Essentially half of our wins I have been incredibly thankful to have Westbrook, who has made game changing plays for the positive. Games 2, 3, 4 could have easily been losses, but instead we were getting MVP calibre Westbrook performances. (22-11-11 on 52% shooting) And of course there were other games where he came up big in the 4th quarter after struggling out of the gate.

I'm trying to remember multiple instances of CP3 helping James Harden out last year, regular season or playoffs. He is 100% more efficient than Westbrook, but when James gets tired can he still make a play? That question was answered last year, and the answer was and still is... NO.

Not at all. I am very aware of the dice roll.

I personally feel like with Westbrook we at least have a chance. With prime Chris Duho, ehh I mean 2020 CP3, I feel like we have ZERO chance. His inability to make a play with Andrew Bogut defending him is what did it for me. (That, and Harden's look of disgust as CP3 wilted like a wet blanket)

And you understand that Westbrook has been horrific in the playoffs the past 3 years, like abysmally bad.

You are all forgetting the biggest part of this trade which may not matter to you but it means everything to Tilman- Westbrook is cheaper and gets us under the luxury tax.

So he’s younger, trade-able, and cheaper. That’s what really matters. Which player is marginally better than the other doesn’t matter. Plus it makes Harden happy and keeps him from bolting to LA.

You stats guys are missing the point. It’s all about Keeping Harden around, roster flexibility, putting butts in the seats, and $$$$$.

Westbrook improves the pace and rebounds better. Not saying that makes him better but it's not all bad

Keep pretending you didn't ... call CP3 washed, didn't want him traded, complain about his injuries/games missed, complain about his contract, etc. ... in the last 6-12 months. :D

In 2016 Westbrook had the 17th highest BPM in the history of the playoffs.
In 2017 Westbrook had the 7th highest BPM in the history of the playoffs. (Abysmally bad huh? :D)

    1. LeBron James 18.16 2009
    2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar* 14.81 1977
    3. Michael Jordan* 14.30 1990
    4. LeBron James 13.99 2018
    5. Michael Jordan* 13.81 1991
    6. Dwyane Wade 13.67 2010
    7. Russell Westbrook 13.08 2017
    8. LeBron James 13.07 2016
    9. Michael Jordan* 12.82 1989
    10. Grant Hill* 12.72 1999

His teams were crushed in 2018 and in 2019 he couldn't hit water out of a boat, but he still led those teams in BPM, and when he was on the floor OKC was actually winning. They got demolished when he went to the bench.

He ain't perfect, but that is why we were able to get him for 2019 Chris Paul.

As bad as Westbrook was last year, without Harden, he had a 16.0 PER.
Chris Paul, largely uncovered for the entirety of the playoffs, had a 17.6 PER. (And was turning down open looks in big moments)

I don't mind the switch, though obviously I miss 2018 CP3 more than anything. (Top 5 player)

I don't think anybody is saying he brings nothing to the table. He certainly does.

The amount of assets used to get him and his fit for a modern-day offense in the playoffs is the issue.

No coach on this planet would be offered CP3 or Russ today....and take CP3.
