Well, given the fact that breaking a rib at home is a rather rare occurence and overall, a pretty hard thing to do, blaming it on a rough masseuse is probably the least culpable thing one can admit to without being completely embarrassed about it.
I'd say 21 and 22 year old Correa most definitely met expectations (and in certain examples, exceeded.).. Sorry, was wiping your urine off my screen.
It’s purely my opinion, but Bregman has surpassed Correa as a player. The Astros were more willing to commit to Bregman than they were Correa. I don’t believe that the Astros would give Correa the same deal they just gave to Bregman. Correa and his agent have said that if an extension was presented to them that was of enough value that they would sign, but if not then they would wait until free agency. It would be naive to think that seeing Altuve, Bregman and Verlander getting paid wouldn’t irk Correa a bit.
How do you get injured getting a massage as a pro athlete at 24 years old? Starting to think he's made of glass.
Its naive to think the Astros wouldn't try to sign Correa long term if they were willing to accept it. Strange fake controversy... if anything, Springer is far more singable (and just as close to free agency) than any of the other guys, yet he also remains unsigned. Shouldn't he also feel upset about it?
I dunno. Which one is less embarassing: I was a top athlete who slipped and fell in my own home or I was a top athlete preparing for game day and got injured by a negligent masseuse?
So maybe this is a massage injury that Correa's personal masseuse caused. And maybe this is why Astros are pissed (Correa using a personal masseuse and not one employed by the Astros).
FWIW, everyone (even elite athletes) can slip and fall and hurt themselves. I think it's more believable than a massage therapist somehow cracking ribs. Here's Blake Snell earlier this year: https://nypost.com/2019/04/16/blake-snell-placed-on-il-after-breaking-toe-in-dumb-move/ The Tampa Bay Rays have placed ace left-hander Blake Snell on the 10-day injured list after he broke a toe on his right foot while he was at home Sunday night. The 26-year-old Snell got hurt when he got out of the shower and then attempted to move a large granite item. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner says it was a “really dumb” move. Snell says “It’s like a three-piece set and this pole that comes up like 2 1/2, 3 feet. Went to move it, I lifted it up and it wasn’t glued to the pole and the pole came crushing down.”
We should contribute odd ways in which we've injured ourselves at home. As a teenager, dancing a dance that detractors might have deemed awkward, I nailed myself in the nose with my knee. If I had had Mossad training, it would have killed me on the spot. Hope Carlos comes back soon, I'd hate to be a power hitter with cracked ribs.
So, you wait till he has just one full great season (sorta like Bregman just had that one season last year)... and then sell? Again, same stuff was said about Springer early on... then he played 162 games. Provided he bounces back each time (which he has), odds are he'll run into better injury luck.
