At the end of the day, they need to figure out what they have in RG3. Regardless of what Colt did or does, I doubt they are looking to him as their QB of the future, so Washington has to figure out what they have in RG3 (I believe next year is his contract year?). I thought he would have benefited from an extra week off and the bye, but he didn't seem hobbled or injured in any way out there, so that doesn't seem to have been an issue. Teams in all sports make decisions all the time that are not necessarily in the interests of winning that day - teams have to balancing looking towards the future with the present.
For comparison, look at the deep balls McCoy threw to Jackson vs. the ones RG3 throws. RG3 hit jackson in stride; Jackson had to slow down for McCoy's underthrows. Major is right, they have to find out if RG3 is the future. Colt is a known quantity at this point and he is not even a potential franchise guy based on his NFL body of work.
It sucks he goes up against division leaders and RG3 gets to play against the worst teams in the NFL. Hope Colt can do well.
Another great game by Colt. Maybe if you would have played him against two of the worst teams in the NFL then you would be competing for a playoff spot.
At best, that would have put them at 5-6 in a league where there are 3 wildcard teams at 8-4 and another is 7-5.
At best they would be 6-5 with a win against SF as well. A very mediocre SF team. You're right though. They would still be a little out. Be interesting to see how they finish if they keep Colt. Hopefully he has some good opportunities in the offseason. He's certainly not the best player but very easy to like.
Poor Colt may not make it out alive...10 mins to go and he's been sacked 6 times & hit at least 8 others.
Yeah, after this game, I imagine the rest of the season will be his, and he'll have a great opportunity to showcase himself for next year.
