    No way,

that will be too much damage done to the brands of Melo and La La.

This has probably been said 100x, but what the hell, I'll say it again. Every player with God given talent reaches a crossroad at some point in his/her respective career. I like to call it, the T-Mac/Vince Carter Duality. Essentially a player is posed with a choice: continue to play assuming that said God given talent is still there, or learn to use less athleticism and play smarter. As his body let him down, tmac still tried to be the guy he always was, volume shooter, heavy usage, athletic play, but in the end he couldn't keep doing that. VC on the other hand turned in his wings, stopped being Air Canada and just became a heady player. This is why Carter is still in the league, he provides value even in his age. Melo has utility if his game changes. If he commits on defense, reduces his shot volume and becomes a smarter player teams would love to have him. As is, his streaky shooting, his defensive liabilities and now what appears to be his attitude issues make him far less attractive. I want Melo to succeed, but as I've stated earlier he has to know what he values most (if it's playing with friends, being THE guy, or winning a ring). It appears, from an outsider's perspective, Melo still wants to be THE guy. His body may beg to differ.

What if Rockets don't waive Melo and other teams want compensation (2 Seconds) to take him?

Then they don't waive him? Even if Tilman was cheap, paying 2 second rounders for a vet's min tax hit is far more expensive.

Why would we give up assets to move someone we can just cut for free?

Melo Contract costs Tilman 5 million (1.5 million is taxable).

2 Seconds is not worth 5 million. (50th picks?)

The best option is waive, but Harden and Paul may refuse to hurt Melo's career.

The warriors paid $2.4 M for McCaw. The Nets paid $3 M for Whitehead. The cavs paid $2.5 M for Felder. Yes, 2 second round picks are worth $5 M.

Edit: Felder went 54th overall as well.

Seriously. It's hard to disagree with anything he says here. Combined with all the absurd ESPN coverage that comes with Melo, it's hard to disagree with the Front Office's decision to get rid of him.

any evidence for this claim? just curious

also any evidence for this claim? the most I can find is the investigator's report that although heavily redacted makes it pretty clear the investigator at least found no evidence for these claims. The report is at and the relevant appendix seems to be Appendix K (interviews described pp. 114-152 and investigator's summary on pp. 153-160).

Maybe you're aware of something else?

I hope Cuban snatches him up.
Melo could really flourish under Carlisle.

They don't really play defense anyways so it's probably a good fit.

Wow, didn't know that. Won't be paying much attention to him anymore then.
