Some nice words about Vasilis Spanoulis in this article...Ca't wait to see him "rockin" the Toyota center. Here's an excerpt and the link:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/chris_ekstrand/05/19/draft/2.html

"When I was over there, they were playing Benetton Treviso, and whoever won went on to the quarterfinals of the Euroleague," said Dawson, who has kept close tabs on Spanoulis both before and after he drafted him. "What an atmosphere. The place (Olympic Stadium in Athens) was rocking! He scored 17 points and he dominated the game a little bit. He's very good about getting into the paint and kicking the ball out, and he's good at finishing as well. His shot is coming along. He's a nice prospect and I'm really happy we drafted him. He's progressed every year we have watched him."

OK, so we use half the MLE on VSpan, and half on Padgett. We draft Carney (fingers crossed) and we got us some excitement for next season. :D

CD says "he dominated the game a little bit"

that's like having your finger removed a little bit.

good to hear that he is coming along. the fact that he can get in the paint makes him an interesting NBA prospect with the new rules.

Like everybody, he has hits (Cassell, Horry, Mobley, etc.) and misses (Griffin, Turkcan, Drew).

griffin is still a good player, and would be a great fit next to yao as a shot blocker and a guy who can spread the floor. too bad things didn't work out.

off topic but we should've kept griff and posey. letting both of them go for nothing really hurt. sure we signed jim jackson who braught us wesley, and also signed adrian griffin and pike who then got us deke, but right now i'd trade wesley and deke for posey. who wouldn't? if we sign MJ and draft carney:

    yao-stro
    griffin-jho
    tmac-carney
    posey-head
    alston-MJ

Sorry, but Griffin was tremendously bad this season, just like he was last season, continuing his downward trend.

He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from out of the arc (19%) (or in the arc either). Aside from a few blocked shots, he makes a case for being among the worst regular players in the NBA.

If he was here he'd be buried behind Howard, Swift, AND Hayes with numbers like these:

Well, CD tend to overrate the player when commenting on our new player prospects... Remember the Kobe/Parker comparison? Divide that by half and maybe you get Spanoulis.

    -G'day-

CD's gone crazy! We didn't draft him, we traded the guy we picked in the 2nd round for him ;)

If the guy has any future in the NBA, he needs to have his butt brought over here so he can learn and be coached by NBA talents. Watching him out of the corner of your eye doesn't seem like a very prompt way of developing the guy. CD acts like he wants to jump in the pool and swim, but his toe tells him no when he dips it in.
Bring him over! Just do it. :p

Sorry but there is a possibility that we are being strung along once again! The big wheels are JVG and CD and ther are offering conflicting opinions about Spanoulis. If we make our move to add James back into the fold [I think we should]then the chance of us gaining a Euro Point Guard is doomed.
