That's what one year w/o any basketball does to anybody.

yao looks good. but it's a practice session. teams are going to front, push, foul... and just try to play him physical.

i think his game is still there (it's up to his body). and we will have to see if his body can handle the physicality of the NBA game, over 82 games, and over a playoff run

chuck is chuck. he always finds his way to be on nba roster.

completely agree with you on yao's evaulation but yao is workaholic. w/ 2 months, he should be ready.

Loved what I saw...but have to notice that he was playing against 6'6 Chuck and a D-Leaguer (no disrespect). I'd be more interested to see how he plays against Miller.

They always said he had no hitch during practice, it just comes back during games. Hopefully hitch is gone for good but I'll wait to see what happens in game situations.

On the radio they made it seem like he wasn't very close to his former self. That video is very promising. He is even smiling...

Agree. I want to see them practice fronting b/c Yao isn't going to get the ball that easy. However, the video makes me excited about both Yao and Hayes.

Thanks for the comments on the video... it's very amateur, but I appreciate it. Rockets.com has some high-quality footage also.

Sorry it took me longer than I intended... Jeff let me borrow his video camera and I had a codec issue with the files that took me some time to resolve, and in between I got caught up in some interesting talks with some of the media here. I also had a problem uploading that last video (it interrupted twice). I'm leaving the TC now and hope to write some thoughts tonight from watching the workout.

One question when does Yao look fast?

From all the YouTube vids, he moves just about the same speed.

In other words the man has always been slowwwww :)

You think fronting is an issue with AB or KM? Or even Melo?

If you have cutters, your going to destroy fronting by good passing and attacking the rim on the weak side. Something the Rockets weren't good at previous years.

However I want to remind folks, Portland fronted, Yao didn't get superstar numbers but we won the series. Let them front, as long as we win.

I have always been hopeful for Yao and his return. I am not disappointed. He looks good.

I am very impressed with Chuck though. He looks lean and mean. He is clearly in great shape.

Doesn't look like his foot bothers him. His moves are still crisp.
