What this means is that we don't have a number one guy yet.

Morey clearly disagrees with you. And I trust him.

some of these teams aren't even trying yet. or have players that aren't really trying yet.

The win share stat is a net statistic so that makes sense. WS/48 is a rate statistic and it's still pretty low for Westbrook.

The 3rd star was supposed to be CP3 but the Clippers were able to keep him because of trading for Doc Rivers.

No biggie, but article says Brooks was a second round pick.

Why not? No one says that third "star" has to be a Lebron/Melo type of player.
A young player like Bledsoe, Monroe or Hayward would dramatically change our dynamic without costing us an arm and a leg. Even Deng would be huge

It's a diplomatic way of saying we don't have Hakeem No 1 or Clyde No 2. The Rockets had better role players too, and could have taken today's Miami out.
Howard is No 1 for us and Harden no 2,but they aren't elite so that is why we need Love No 3 to get to the top.

Morey has not a basic innovative thought, he expects to repeat Miami's model

I agree. This would be a championship team under Pop

Hmmm, I definitely don't think Parsons is the issue.

The Rockets need a real coach
Dwight needs to stop trying to post up every play and run a lot more P&Rs (which he is much better at)
Harden needs to commit to playing defense
Morey needs to get rid of Asik and pick up some shooters and a back-up big

All of these things are things the Rockets have to fix before worrying about Parsons not being good enough to be the third guy.

Doubt it, unless Pop comes with a back-up center.

Why are people acting like win shares, particularly the defensive win share portion has any value?

I think this further reinforce the notion that Morey is looking hard at the 2015 FAs(Aldridge, Love, and potentially Rondo, Gasol... so many). The big clue before was that he was unwilling to take on Green/Young's contracts in trade, as both have contracts that extend beyond 2015. But it's becoming clear that the Rockets are clearing cap once again and Morey's REALLY looking long term. Obviously the best case is that we can force a team to trade their star to us next offseason. But worse come to worst, we can sign a star in two years.

    Duh, comes to mind.

No way he believes Asik can be that guy. I've yet to see any improvement from him, since he's been here. He is what he is, and for whatever reason, can't make basketball moves.

Lin and Jones can be third best on a team OKC or Miami, where they already have a top 3 talent.

And here is the real problem. It's assumed they need a third best, rather than just a third star. I'm not sold that Harden or Howard can be in the top spot. So far they both still feel like #2 players. Harden should eventually slide in the top spot because of his youth, but it's not a given. Howard will be #2, at most, without a post game. Morey needs to go after the best he can get, period.

My follow up would be wondering how Parson's win share is effected by the missed games as well.

There is a third top 3 guy on a title team on the Rockets. His name is Ă–mer.
