ClutchFans Game Thread: Timberwolves @ Rockets 2/23/2018

Solid game and started off poorly, Harden was on and off for most of the game, CP3 a bit rusty, Anderson and Mbah hesitant about shooting and Green just looking to shoot. So pretty crazy we got 120! Capela was just a monster and took it to Towns, very impressive.

I loved Joe tonight, that one sequence on offense with the step-back midrange two and then pulling the chair on Taj was the highlight of the game for me. Tucker was very aggressive, one of the few along with Capela and just inspired others on defense in key stretches.

We're damn deep and it's a damn shame MDA isn't willing to even play the 10-11 guys we can rely on. He will probably play 8-9, only Nene when really necessary and Joe Johnson in case of injury.

Tonight it finally looked like he understood the value of playing guys around 30 minutes, but guess that's more because of Ariza's injury and Gordon being out. He made a good decision about Green, the guy just plays himself out of minutes the way he's playing. He will only see the court when we need a quick three and 2 or more are off.

 

The Boston one hurt, no doubt. But these things even out over the course of a season. The Rockets had no business winning that game in Philly early in the year, yet they came back and stole it on that buzzer beater by EG.

 

The biggest story coming out of this game is the overall growth of Capela (25 points 11 boards) and his ability to stand in against KAT (18 points 12 rebounds), Avoiding fouls and competing at the point of attack, Clint anchored the defense, making KAT work for every basket. The advanced stats (which, by the way Second Spectrum has just updated!) confirm that KAT was going directly at Clint 39 times in the game, but he only earned 12 points and 2 assists in that matchup.

When you turn that around, Clint was 7-8 in the paint facing KAT. Clint's confidence is growing and that's welcome news.

Harden's 3PT has struggled last few games - .328, on 12+ attempts last five.

Still above .380 for the season - NICE number for him.

 

Not surprised. There will eventually be reasons why he misses games that's his career but that's why we have a deep roster too!

 

I only saw the highlights. Capela showed aggression, that is what we need from him every night. Good defense, and rebounding should be his calling card.

 

Rockets can afford to take their time bringing EGo back. This team us so deep now. Ladies be loving us for our depth.

 

Why didn't Wright play?

 

i'm cool with as many games he gonna miss. we just need him to be 100%healthy comes playoff time

 

I believe he will see some PT on the B2B coming up. I am hoping against the Jazz on Monday, resting Nene.

 

Bottom line, THIS GAME represents the ceiling that Capela can hit this season. And the Rockets need THIS Capela if they are going to beat the Warriors. Rockets need this impact. They need Capela at high energy and "playing with force."
