Bro...this more than one metric. You should look up Thinking Basketball bro, would do you some good. Even the guy who made that stat would tell you evaluating one player's performance off one metric or even two is silly as hell. Lol using Win Shares and going thats that is so damn silly.

Didn't you just do that by claiming that Harden is one of the top 20 playoff performers ever based on one person's analytical model?

    This can't be stressed enough.
The Regular Season is to build your bench. Good coaches play the backups to build chemistry and prepare for the Playoffs.
You think that all other teams have starter quality players as their 10th men?

Nope. But the coaches play them so they can contribute when they are needed.
It is in my opinion MDA's biggest deficiency in coaching.

He uses many statistical metrics, not to mention he has his own, not to mention he also watches film. Morey even praised the Book he wrote on basketball. Yea I trust his evaluation more than yours.

Imagine if Mike D'Antoni had a 22 year old Pascal Siakam.

He'd probably play Thabo Sefolosha over him.

Being in a different era is irrelevant. You can argue and say players have got more stronger, fitter and better since Kobe's time. Harden could very well have averaged more points in Kobe's time.

Kobe shooting more 3pt attempts would have hurt his team more than help it. He was never an efficient 3pt shooter. And you're making out Kobe never got any free throws.... he had over 10,000 attemts, which is 3,000 more than Harden has had. Yeah, by the time Harden's career is over I'm pretty certain he'll pass Kobe.... but it won't be by much.

Win Shares also weights many statistical metrics also.

Win Shares is one metric, its not meant to be used as an end all be all.

    You can’t believe it?

    I can.

Dude is an incompetent coach. I’ll believe anything he does.

I can't stand MDA as a coach. His stubbornness to play a center when Clint rests is ridiculous. Hartenstein should have played in this game.

Being in different eras is very relevant. Kobe in this era would develop his three point shooting far more. He would understand that the modern NBaa wants you to take 5+ 3s a game. Also the league average free throw rate was much lower in Kobe's era.

Just an entirely different shot profile of the average player back then compared to today. Hence why you have to look at how their scoring efficiency numbers compare to the league averages of their respective years playing.

And so is your friend's one analytical model. Win Shares is a model also that outputs a value based on several metrics.

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ws.html

Again, here is how they calculate win shares.

This team isn't going anywhere. If they can't win a title this year I hope the Lakers do for Kobe.

You can work on your 3pt shooting all you want, it doesn't mean you're actually going to be more efficient with it. Besides, even if he had worked on his 3pt shooting more.... it would have probably hurt his game. Him shooting more 3pt shots would have taken away his 2pt plays and him driving to the paint more. So you thinking Kobe shooting more 3pt attempts would have helped him and his team is wrong.

Game should of been about defense today but they give up 117. People want to ridicule Harden for his defense... here he is not playing but this team just isn’t consistent or disciplined enough to play D throughout a entire game.

Same trash players that Harden wins with.

That is not a knock on Russ by any means. Harden is just that damn good.
