Someone will need to explain to me if you are guarding the three above all else why wouldn't Parson be on near the top of the Key on that screen?

better question is why would you sub beverley in for Lin and leave harden in if your going for "no 3pt shoot" defense? Portland had 3 guards 1 sf and 1 pf line up, and we had harden (??) tJones(???) parsons (??) beverley and dwight...

seriously does that line up look like its gonna defend the 3 pt line?

we should have lin, beverly, dmo\dwight, garcia, parsons... you know there wont be a rebound, you dont need rebounders you just need people to bother the final shot...

You are right, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Perhaps then they weren't playing defense purely contingent on guarding the 3? They must have been defending the tie as well. Neither team wanted to go into OT, clearly. Guess you really can't defend against a lucky, ref-assisted 3 pointer?

The better team doesn't always win the series as proven in this one. F Batum and F Lillard and his smug goofy face after he hits shots.

Kinda funny to hear them talk about how they are the "better team" etc. when a bounce here or a missed shot there was literally all the difference between the Rockets losing 2-4 and winning the series in 5. Rockets were the better team for most of the game, and just royally choked seemingly every game.

the additional question is, if you took out lin because bev can guard lillard, why did they CHANGE assignments? no switching happen on the play, i think.

    This.

But then again a sign of a good team is being able to execute and make shots late. And not choking every game

who cares, portland already over achieved so much this season... remember before the season started people where predicting then as border line playoff team... no one expected them to be fighting for 3rd and 4th seat in the playoffs now they have reached 2nd round...

The last play summed up everything wrong with the Rockets this season...

    Wrong assignments.

    Wrong system.

    Wrong line-up.

    BAD DEFENCE

McHale is responsible for all of these things and that's why he must go.

(posted this in the wrong thread - sorry if you read it twice)

Actually, according to your theory, we should be in the finals next year against the Heat.

It goes like this --- Dallas (Texas Team), Oklahoma, (Out of state), and San Antonio (Texas Team).

According to that pattern, someone from an out of state team will face the Heat.

Then next year, we will go to the Finals.

The more I think about that last shot, there's so many different scenarios that could've avoided the loss. 0.9 seconds left, Jones doesn't really need to stay on inbounder, no time to inbound and pass back to inbounder for the shot in under a sec remaining. So right when Batum passed it in, Jones shouldve turned around or at least try to contest whoever that caught the ball

And for the people that thought we should foul since we had a foul to give - that's too tough in 0.9, they're literally catching and shooting, you'd just be giving them a chance at a 4 point play or 3 foul shots; honestly i'd rather give up a wide open 2 to tie than have the clutchest dude this season to shoot a series clinching 3.
