And yet we play the thunder tomorrow. The narrative if we win will be Westbrook does not have enough help so he is the mvp and if we lose it will be Russell Westbrook is the MVP.

How was the Herrera signing and half-time tribute? Feigen tweeted he seemed really touched

The problem with MVP is how people perceive it to vote on it, and who votes. It's partly popularity, partly what people see them do in games, and then what the stats say on paper. There is always going to be someone who loses that others think should have won. I don't get all bent out of shape on these kinds of awards because of how the winner is chosen. He is our MVP, just like Russell is Oklahoma's MVP. If Westbrook wins, it might not be because of who wins that game, or it might be. It depends how people vote.

Maybe they vote on who scored more pts, more assists, more rebounds, more steals, and less turnovers. Things like that matter, and most of those stats Westbrook leads. 35 triple doubles is huge, and Harden isn't close to that. Harden only has one more assist per game, but less pts, rebounds, and steals. But, his beard is popular and we have won more games. Maybe it's going to come down to who does better in the playoffs. I just don't see how people say it's a slam dunk that Harden will win it, or that they blame it on Sunday's game. Just know that they are both great and don't cry over spilled milk when the results come out. That award is a popularity contest/stats/team accomplishment type award, which has no clear cut winner in many people's eyes. My guess is that in Houston Harden will win, and in Oklahoma City Westbrook will win.

Apparently the tweet was taken down? It must have been too complimentary or something.

The truly important thing is that the team doesn't regress. The net sum of all the players and I don't think that's happened.

I think voters have to get their votes in before the playoffs start. I'm going to do some digging.

Edit/found this: "A line at the bottom warns that ties or split votes will not be counted, and beneath that is written the deadline: 3 p.m. on the day after the close of the regular season. "

Well, in that case our record will be better, which could sway some voters towards Harden, if they count team progress and victories over individual stats.

Yeah, that 8.5 game lead over the Thunder should be Harden's saving grace. As Devin Booker showed, putting up big numbers is not as good as winning and Westbrook isn't winning the way Harden is winning. And the argument of whether or not Harden has the better team around him should be answered by the preseason predictions. Harden's squad was picked to be 14th by ESPN, Westbrook's was picked to be 7th overall. This tells you that people already felt like Westbrook had the better team and they should be reminded of this before they vote.

Which of these guys outperformed their expectations? Both, probably, but Harden exceeded expectations by leaps and bounds and his team is going to have homecourt advantage in the first round. Westbrook won't.

Harden could have easily had 22 or more assists. Ariza missed a few threes off his passes. Ryno had 3 in and outs of his passes and Nene missed two easy layups and had one blocked when Cousins came out of nowhere which he should have dunked . I can one day see Harden getting 26 or more assists when everyone gets hot in a game and we probably get 30 three pointers in a game with his sublime court vision.

As SAS says on First take: this brother is on another level!.

I took the liberty of added Wins to this chart ... in Green Dots. Yes, Tiny Archibald is off the chart at the bottom

He's on pace to go down as an all time great. Hopefully he retires a rocket and has the #13 retired.
