At least they tried a little on defense I guess? But in general just another uninspired, listless performance, just on offense this time.
Jimmy Butler without the antics would have stifled Donovan easily. The Rockets need another swingman to start. Simmons is no Butler, but he is a better defender than Ennis. He should come off the bench.
Clint Capela appears to still be somewhat hampered by the right foot issue that limited him during the preseason. Simply looking at Capela's statistics, you wouldn't really know anything was wrong, but something appeared to be slightly off during Wednesday's game. He doesn't have quite the same lift and hasn't been dunking as much, but with very little depth behind him and Houston a bit banged up, he also doesn't have the luxury of being able to take a night off. Odds are he'll continue to play through whatever is ailing him, but this is something we'll be monitoring moving forward. Taken from The Athletic if anyone has access to the full article
I think Melo played his best game so far, not necessarily because of the points he scored or the %, what i liked more was that he only took a bad shot in all the game, he was pretty diligent on offense and he actually tried on defense, i mean, he's obviously meh in this aspect cause he has just not quick enough feet and he's too old at this point, but if he tries...
Rockets are coasting right now and i am commending them for that 1 uninspired (its only the start of a season pretty meaningless games coming of almost winning the whole thing last year ) 2 cautious (avoiding serious injuries-if you play hard now you get no reward au contraire you can be punished for playing hard by losing key players to injuries) 3 they are lacking multiple key players to injuries and suspensions Positives: 1 harden is still awesome 2 CP3 also 3 Capela is still great as can be seen by high quality plays in stretches he is just naturally relaxed after working hard for years 3 Harden Cp3 Capela Tucker Ego are still the best starting five in NBA and when they clamp down the opponent in the playoffs time when it matters they will destroy teams by defense alone
Gimpy Harden and Capela. Sweet. This is why all of us Clutchfans are laughing at having so many backup centers, but yet no "depth". So much dead weight. Nene - dead. Hartenstein - slow. Qi - soft. Chriss - dumb.
Clutchfans usually gets really upset when people smile about things. Kevin Martin, Dwight Howard. Prepare yourselves.
Thanks for posting that. It certainly would explain some of his lack of explosion. There are a lot of trailing blocks he is just missing and the lack of explosion on dunking is obvious. Not to mention his rebounding is mediocre.
The Rockets have had their issues. But I firmly believe they are 3-1 without the injuries/suspension. They have gotten better defensively every game, though lots more room for improvement. They need to gut out a win vs the Clippers on Friday without Harden. And then fully healthy get that win over Portland on Tuesday. That gets them to 3-3 and .500. Then take to the road and get the ship righted.
