Is he better than Greg Smith? Probably not for quite a few years.

Hope Morey picked this guy because he knows he is in demand and he can trade him for a future first rounder. Because...this guy is just pile o' poo. He can't play. He can't help us on court. And now he's wanting to come over. You guys nailed it with the Badiane comparison. I don't see the fit or the reason. Trade him. Get him outta here quickly. And get a future first rounder out of the deal please.

This guy can't play. period. I'm sorry. But this isn't a Morey type pick. THere's got to be a trade he's trying to turn for a pick or possibly he knows Minnesota wanted this guy. I'm telling you he's terrible. 4 or 5 year project just to be a 6 foul guy. He can't play. The Ibaka comparisons are laughable. Mark my words. He can't play. He's Ibaka without Ibaka's jumper, without Ibaka's offensive game, without Ibaka's defensive game, without Ibaka's strength, without Ibaka's hands, and without Ibaka's brain.

The thing about the Capela pick is that however we as Houston fans think of him, he seems to be regarded very well as a prospect across the league. Woj's tweet about multiple teams inquiring about him immediately after our pick shows this. That is, regardless of whether Capela ultimately ends up playing for Houston, you could argue we maximized the asset value of the 25th pick (plus we save cap space if he stays in Europe).

Seems to be a solid, if not overwhelming, pick.

Do fans even know why Ibaka was not a top-5 pick going into that draft and lasted til the 20s?

Rockets are getting good media buzz for drafting this kid, not that it matters, but still.

Capela is allot more athletic than Terrence Jones.
    Check out the videos below.
The last is a scouting report by the Boston Celtics on him.

The thing is, about the only thing Capela can do really well is dunk.
In comparison, Terrance Jones is allot more skilled and allot stronger.

    Serious Hops:

Talks like a little Deke. Film on his shot blocking looks pretty good. Looks like he needs to spend another year overseas and a year in the D-league to work on his overall game.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Looks good to me. Looks like a great shot blocker. I look at that draft express vid and I see a guy who can be pretty good player in this league after about 20-30 lbs of bulk and some time with Hakeem.

    I'm curious about 2 things.

1, Is it possible we drafted him to just sign him? With no intentions to "stash" him?

2, Is it at all possible to sign him after free agency, during pre-season camp, or even mid year? Or is it a rule that he couldn't sign till next off season if we don't sign him immediately?

I think he will be a better defender than T-Jones, but Jones can improve on offense and develop into a consistent role player. This guy has no offensive game at all, apart from dunking the ball.
