Just put this together of all the games, except the Sharks. Note: he didn't play in the second NOP game or the Spurs game. Enjoy Spoiler: My take away What is most impressive Capela is running both simple PnRs and new, more complex MDA PnRs very well He understands the full responsibilities of the 5 in complex sets He is showing the ability to spot open cutters off the PnR What is weak If the alley-oop is off target, he's no Deandre Jordan at still completing it. There were about 3-4 failed passes because he couldn't haul in the alley-oop. He still gets pushed around on rebounds He is still showing nothing special as a rim protector
I will say the Dallas game Clint really impressed me , he seemed to find some level of consistency on D . The offense will come when you play with James harden . If Clint can play sound schematically while at the same time make some plays using his quickness and athleticism he's gonna be a really solid player . The only question with Clint is gonna be his tank and if he can keep that motor running strong .
Ya gotta admit, the kid has special feet on the PnR and has a much higher BBIQ the Dwight even at this young stage.... he's also not clumsy which was a big problem for Dwight......
He knows how to cut and play in the PnR situation. He also can finish well off alley-oops. That's pretty much all you need at the center position offensively if you are playing with James Harden. Now, if he could make free throws as well that'll be great.
Isn't that defensive terminology for the PnR. Yeah, he's pretty good at defending it. Showing and getting back, and when he switches, he's held the guard in place...not letting him drive. He appears quick out front on D. But yeah, he's good at "slipping" his pick. Was that the word you were looking for? I'm most impressed that he's actually doing DHO picks, and how he works the two picker game for Harden...we've seen him and Ariza pick for each other, before setting picks for Harden.
Very willing on the P& R Really Mobile Great hands Pretty much the opposite of what Dwight was last year. The strength, stamina will come as seen by Yao's growth after a couple years. The question is whether he will ever develop touch from the free throw line and near the basket. That will be the difference of whether he becomes a Tyson chandler type or a Biedrins
Clint's going to benefit a lot from having real shooters when he's driving to the rim on pick and rolls. He should get a lot more assists.
Clint is essential to our success this year. He's a rare prospect with soft hands, length and quick feet that make him an athletic terror on both ends. He's shown flashes, we just need to see consistency. I believe 3 things need to happen for us to become a contender... 1) Clint must become a force similar to Deandre Jordan. He's a little more finesse than Jordan, but he needs to make the same impact. 2) Llull in, Beverley out. Don't get me wrong, Beverley is not a bad fit. He's just not a perfect fit on an MDA team and without a second superstar, nothing less than perfect will get us in the conversation. I still worry that when Gordon and Harden aren't on the floor together, the offense will become too one dimensional. Llull solves that. 3) Ariza out, more dynamic SF in. Like Bev, Ariza is not a bad fit...he's just not perfect. On the offensive end he's plodding and has a slow release. He's also not really a fastbreak threat. We need a Kent Bazemore, Jimmy Butler or the like that can provide more options on the offensive end.
And that's illustrated in the first highlight of the video. He kicks out to a wide open Gordon on the weakside...nice vision I didn't think he had
