Which is why you LOCK HIM UP as soon as possible for as 'cheap' as possible.
He will be a beast one day IMO
But that is at least 3 yrs away IMO

The contract after his next one . .. he will be looking to get MEGA PAID
    but not the next one

it's not going to take that much longer to actually be better than DJ. its basically comes down to being able to stay on the floor as a full time center. his minutes should be close to 30 mins this year if hes going to take that next step.

Capela will be hated harder than anserson once he gets paid. He will become the next dwight. Each missed ft will make clutchfans more upset that they could have had an all star for the money he will receive because they exist. They think we could somehow sign LeBron if it wasn't for Ryan Anderson and clint capela.

Let's be realistic here, Clint Capela at the Max will not prevent us from signing LeBron. Ever. We would not sign him to that money if no other teams or willing to pay that money. That means he could easily be traded to make room for lebron who will never come to the rockets.

I like Clint but I don't believe he's the second coming. He's a good trade asset.

With Morey, you know everyone is a building block AND a trade asset at the same time.

He is great at rookie minimum, but as we approach the RFA date, his shine will wear off. If we can't lock him up at a decent salary, I would look to move him for Drummond. Similar caliber of players, but Drummond brings skills that actually help where we need (defense and rebounding), while Clint is more offensive focused.

    Please no.

It has been god knows how long since we had a real 6-10 big who is athletic, plays above the rim, and can run the floor.

We are keeping him. Besides, who's gonna throw down those CP3 lobs?

I like Clint and I think he is a great fit for this system. However, he is not a difference-maker and I doubt he will ever develop into one. If Capela is the asset needed to get a 3rd star, Morey will pull the trigger and then figure a way to get a vet that brings 80% of what Capela does, same way the Warriors did with Pachulia. I also doubt he will get a big contract next summer; most teams are capped out and there is an excess of centers. Mason Plumlee is struggling to get an offer this summer, Baynes signed with $4m, Dedmon, Noel, Zeller and Len have no offers (excl qualifying), Ezeli, Black and Hill were waived. Olynik got paid because he can play the 4 and hit the three. Basically, there is no need to pay much for what Capela brings, because there are so many players available that can give you 80% of Capela's production for under $5m.

This. As of right now, and for the foreseeable future, he's just 'some guy'. He doesn't really do anything well besides catch lobs, and even that is iffy. Guys in the D-league who can do that are a dime a dozen.

Oh yeah, and he can't hit a FT to save his life.

Granted, we haven't been dumb enough to pay him DeAndre Jordan money yet, but I don't see any reason for us to do so.

Do you remember how bad Asik's hands were? I liked the guy a lot, but he'd blow so many lay ups for us.

    Both......

I think he is a 15 and 8 type of player, if not better........ there are only so many on the market.

Clint is F5'ing himself to death just like we are. Only he's interested in the contract Nerlens Noel eventually gets.

    I agree.

Clint really needs to work on his stamina. Once he can give us 30 solid minutes per game, I would say he is a top 10 center in the league.

This newsletter I'm reading says that he's already practically traded for someone named Ace Bigman.

We don't have time to wait on Capela anymore. Gotta get a stud paint protector now in the middle. If Capela and Gordon yield DeMarcus (or another stud 5) and combined with Anderson/ngs yields stud 5 and Melo, then we gotta go wi'd it.

    Paul Harden Ariza DeMarcus Melo
    Taylor Tucker Uthoff Nene Zhou

Sign Brandon Rush, other vets to minimum deals.

Gotta roll with that. Can't wait for Capela to develop any more.
