Would like see offense ran through danuel house with baseline curls or stuff that bird ran. Would like to see baseline curls for house, iso post for Westbrook, and bench harden whenever his shots go broke! Basically reward those that run the floor.
ha, maybe jvg shouldn't be a coach. how do you knock off a #1 seed and somehow manage to find so little joy in life that you spend the first 15 seconds after the buzzer infuriated with the refs about a game that's over and you just won! maybe you should be celebrating your win.
holy ****! maxwell straight up attacked a fan and wasn't even kicked out of the game? edit: also watching several early 80's sixers games recently, bobby jones could absolutely fly for a guy that tall. and Dr. J is almost never impressive in these games. half the time you don't notice he's playing, the other half the D is backing off daring him to shoot jumpers and then he takes some awkward looking shot. maybe he was way better in the 70's, but he seems almost helpless in halfcourt offense.
I have thought that about him too. He is funny on tv, but when he was coaching he seemed miserable all the time.
Doc was great I'd think that teams just feared him so much going to the basket they would just give him the outside shot and hope he missed. That was crazy seeing Maxwell going into the crowd and not even getting ejected. I just chalk that up to it was a totally different world back then for sure.
the announcer was just like "maxwell was wrong there" like he had just gotten in a heated argument with a teammate on the bench or something. and not attacked a fan. i mean even when the real maxwell went after a fan he got suspended for 10 games and that was 1995 (i think) and almost a decade before the malice at the palace. it's also crazy how much fans ran on nba courts after championships in the past. like in the 70's they were having to hold the crowd back as the clock ticked down like it wasn't a big deal that 10,000 people were crowding the court while a game was still going on. and then people would just climb on the backboards college football style. i guess sports just weren't the multi-billion dollar businesses they are today so anything went.
There was a classic photo from Portland's title and there was a fan sitting on the rim during the celebration. I remember when the Celtics won in 84 they barely got off the court before it got crazy. Thats why you never saw the on court celebrations that are common place today. You should look up when the Yankees won the AL Title on a walk off home run in 76 the batter had to knock fans down just to get around the bases.
