Cleveland Clinic is not only one of the biggest clinics in the world, but it is ranked #1 in Heart and Vascular care and research. They are one of my clients, so I've read up on them.

    I'd trust their opinion.

Yeah, I find it strange that they would void a 4-year agreement for something that sounds like would clear up in a couple of months. If they actually wanted him (and the way they went after him right out of the gate with a full MLE, it seemed like they did), they'd keep him and treat the condition.

They took several days to void after he failed the physical, so I would think they didn't jump the gun. But who knows? Maybe Hayes needed more testing to get to this diagnosis and they didn't want to lose out on free agency with the uncertainty in the meantime.

Great news. Hope he can resume his career this very same month. The thought in the back of my mind is that Sacramento got buyer's remorse, if indeed it was nothing to worry about then it would make it more probable.

Chuck Hayes’ reps at BDA Sports release a statement saying he has no heart problem and has been cleared to play by the Cleveland Clinic.

Hayes underwent “a full day of exhaustive testing and exams” yesterday and this morning was cleared to return to the court, BDA Sports said.

Hayes’ exams were directed by Dr. Steven Nissen, chairman of cardiovascular medicine at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic.

Hayes, whose contract was voided by the Kings after a failed physical, “can continue to play basketball without any concerns,” BDA says.

These theories about Sac having buyer's remorse are pretty serious. I would think it warrants some type of serious investigation if the league suspects the same?

so, wouldn't kings give him the exact same deal? i guess i'm wondering what the rockets would offer him now they have their center taken care of? probably still nowhere close to what the kings gave him.

Houston would've had interest in revisiting a Chuck Hayes deal, but Sam Dalembert signing takes them out of running.

Isn't there a deadline on how long you can take to void a contract? I thought it was like 7 to 10 days. But I don't know.

Hou would absolutely love to have Hayes back but the problem is that Hayes probably wants a starting gig and I don't think we can give him that.
We would love to have him as a 4th big man to play off the bench as a defensive specialist.

So, if the heart is indeed fine, then there is no reason for him to come back to HOU as it is not the best for him and his family.
Rox would only be able to get him if no one else offers a reasonable contract.

Yeah, it's pretty well recognized as the best heart hospital in the galaxy. Lots of Middle East oil sheiks fly there for their cardio surgeries. And their cancer center rocks, too -- saved my GF's life 7 years ago. When she was diagnosed with a form of sinus cancer only 1000 people have ever had, the ONLY specialist for that cancer in the entire world worked there.

This is going to be the final say on Chuck's heart.

Is it too late to amnesty someone on our roster? If not, that's still an option. And I think BimaThug or someone else mentioned that we never relinquished our Bird Rights? In which case, we could sign him anyway. The problem is that we have to make another cut, and a promising young player will be pushed down to 14th or 15th on the roster.

Wouldn't voiding the signing give us back his Bird Rights. How can a player lose his Bird Rights like this? That would be quite the loop hole for competing team to f!ck over each other.

You sign someone to the max then use your team doctor to give you an excuse to void the contract. Cleveland Clinic just absolutely, 100%, overruled the King's team doctor.

Either the league gives Hayes his Bird Rights back or Hayes should call his Union Rep and sue the freaking league. This is getting ridiculous.

He should go back to Sacremento now...they need to spend some $$$ to get to their basement of expenditures.

I believe the Amnesty can be used anytime before the start of the regular season. Once the season starts you cannot amnesty a player, you would have to wait until the season is over. I could be wrong but that is my interpretation of the Amnesty clause.

I think he just might sue the Kings, sounds like they might have made all of this up to avoid his contract, got scared and the poster that said he was out of shape is probably right.

Hmmm... call me crazy, but it kinda doesn't sound like Chuck Hayes to be out of shape at the most important moment of his professional career.
