I was at Third Base in Austin tonight watching the Rockets game and this dude says he's an updated version of Chucky Brown. So simple poll is Chuck Hayes better than less than or equal to Chucky Brown

Chucky Brown had a jump shot, and was a more athletic finisher. He's more comparable to a poor man's Carl Landry.

I prefer Chuck Hayes a little more, because he happens to be really good at what he does well. Chucky Brown was a nice role player, but he didn't have any outstanding skills.

Completely different sorts of player - but probably about the same level of player.

    Where's that option?!?

Chuck is cool, but he's no Chucky. Chucky's mere presence would assure a first round win.

Chucky Brown for Offense. Chuck Hayes for defense and rebounds.
One thing I liked about Chucky was his attitude on the bench, the guy was always having fun. Him and Chilcutt always seemed to be laughing about something.

Chucky was better on offense...and Chuck better on D...I think they are close to the same in value.

in today's game, chuck is probably has more value because he's a stud on the defensive side even though the guys he guards are 4-5 inches taller than him.

Offense: Chucky Brown >>> Chuck Hayes
Defense: Chuck Hayes > Chucky Brown

Chucky Brown's defense on a PRIME Chuck Barkley was good.
[Chuck Barkley was probably stronger in his prime than most folx Chuck Hayes Plays today]

Chucky Brown was also . . a Consumate Professional! :D

    Chucky Brown . . .all the way . .. by far . . .
[another reason the Charles Barkley trade sucks]

I recall Charles Barkley talking about possible retirement after that series, citing back problems or something. How much of his struggles in that series was really due to Chucky Brown's defense? It's hard for me to remember back that far.

I'm gonna have to go with Chucky Brown just based on his offense compared to Chuck.
Chucky Brown played a pretty big role in playoffs considering he signed two ten day contracts. That would be the equivalent of James White coming in off his ten days and making a contribution in the playoffs (not hating just not happening).

Chuck Hayes will see spot minutes in the playoffs but will be behind Scola and Landry on the depth chart. I could see Hayes getting big minutes if we face the Trailblazers at any time to match up with Aldridge.

I don't know which one was actually a better player. But, Chucky Brown was a lot more important to the '95 Rockets than Chuck Hayes is to the '09 Rockets. Brown played rotation minutes in the playoffs and did an admirable job against Barkley because of the hole Thorpe's departure left us. Hayes will only see spot minutes and has 2 more complete forwards ahead of him in the rotation.
