The Texans hired Bob Ligashesky as a special teams assistant on Monday.

Ligashesky, 50, will work with special teams coordinator Joe Marciano.

Ligashesky enters his 10th season coaching NFL special teams. He also has 19 seasons on the college level.

Ligashesky was special teams coordinator at Tampa Bay last season. He worked with Oakland’s special teams in 2011. He coached tight ends at Denver in 2010. He was special teams coach at Jacksonville, St. Louis and Pittsburgh before going to the Broncos.

Dude what kind of pictures does Marciano have?!?!?

If you do a terrible job, you get fired. You don't get an assistant. what the heck?

"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired their special teams coach Bob Ligashesky, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Ligashesky's special teams unit was rather dismal all-around. Football Outsiders ranked them 28th in the NFL overall, and docked them specifically for kick returns and punt coverage teams. The Bucs' average kickoff return came to just 20.3 yards, which was ranked 30th in the NFL..."

The Ravens cut their OC in the middle of the season.

The 49ers replaced their QB in the middle of the season.

..Texans can't even get rid of our ST coach during the off-season after years of being horrible on ST's

Great.... I guess??? Now if we could get an assistant WR for AJ that would be awesome.

Texans coaches have better job security than Public sector employees.

Marciano has the preseason and the first game of the season to have an impact...if not he most likely gets axed mid season, and then the Texans have an immediate replacement instead of someone they would have to find later in the year...

This guy Joe Marciano obviously got Kubiak's daughter pregnant or something. He couldn't work with Trindon Holiday, Jacoby Jones, and Keyshawn Martin?

I HATE when people say this. Jacoby Jones was a good punter returner while he was here and Keshawn was one of the best in terms of return yardage per punt last year.

He can work with them. I'm less worried about the return game than I am about the coverage schemes. Everyone focuses too much on the returns and it leads them to miss that our coverage has been bad for awhile and we are a team that gets fooled by fakes incredibly easily.

Yes. More of concern is the coverage not so much the returns. The way I look at it is at least they addressed the special teams coaching....of course not the way we wanted as fans, but at least they did something. Better than nothing I guess.

So if you suck, you don't get fired, you get an assistant?

    No accountability!

So if I do a crappy job at my work, should I also expect an assistant to come in and help alleviate pressure?

This would be a reward in the business world or it would mean that I couldn't handle my workload.

That embarrassing kickoff return given up against the colts literally RUINED OUR ENTIRE SEASON.

We were just starting to get the momentum back and that guy runs right up the middle without anyone coming within 30 yards of him. No hyperbole.
