Yeah, I'm just hoping that Tmac doesn't look like he's given up next season. He seemed to not care after we fell apart during the season.
He tried several times to come back, and finally realized that he needed to lay off and get some rest to help the team for the future. it was the extra hard work in the offseason that started his back problems to begin with. He knew he couldn't play and he knew that we were done for without him, that's why it looked like he didn't care.
What worries me is that Miles has already crashed and burned three times. Fans in three cities hate him. Bonzi and Rasheed left behind a lot of friends, but when Miles left each city, his exit was almost unanimously jeered with upraised middle fingers. That is a huge red flag to me.
I can say that strategy might get you to the second round, but it want win a championship. As you advance deep in the playoffs, spotup shooting will be taking away. This will be an easy adjustment for the opposing team. They will say Tmac and Yao can't beat us in a seven games series.
Wade > Tmac + Yao? The entire Rox team, less Yao, couldn't do jack against Dallas in game 7. We need a lot of help, any one person isn't enough.
If all you are is just a spotup shooter, and the defense take that away, then what are you going to do.
I'm looking at the end result, and that is a championship. Those open shots for Redick want be there as you advance deep in the playoffs.
Once again, tell that to James Posey. The Heat just won a championship with Posey spotting up out there and hitting 3s from Wade's throw outs. Get real dude.
No, it isn't. Your point is that the spot up jumper is not available in the late playoff rounds. You've said it in a couple of the above posts. I'll cut and paste it for you. And your point is if J.J. cannot get the spot up shot, he can't do anything. I'm not arguing whether or not J.J. can play defense, what I am arguing is you saying and thinking that the spot shot is not available in the late rounds of the playoffs. What playoffs were you watching. Wade sucked them in every time. The spot up shot was there on many occasions. Your theory is BOGUS. If the Heat would have had Redick on the floor for Payton's minutes instead of Payton, and if they would have had Redick to give part of Jason Williams' minutes to, they would have swept the Finals series. The only reason they lost any games at all is because they had an ignoramace dribbling around and trying to make plays instead of Wade. Your argument that spot up shooting is not valuable in the playoffs is just totally BOGUS.
Ray Allen is averaging 25 points a game. He shot eight 3 pointers a game at 41% accuracy. That's 10 points a game, 40% of his scoring. Being an accurate, volume and quick jump shooter at the same stature of Ray Allen, I think Redick has a chance to achieve the same pedigree of three point shooting. He is also an excellent foul drawer and FT shooter in college. So that's another couple of points in the NBA. He can create for himself and score off open jumpers from T-Mac and Yao. So that's another several points a game. The basis for these projections is his sweet jumper and craftiness that just doesn't disappear in the NBA, Adding it all up, I think it's safe to say Redick is a safe pick who is likely to be able to average 15 plus points at a good percentage on the Rockets. Teamwise, time and time it's proven we need sharp shooters to open up the offense for 111. We have been playing defense against ourselves, especially 111, by allowing the defenders to zone up and double team. Not only so, we need CLUTCH 3 point shooters in crunch time to hit key shots. When the game is on the line, who is our John Paxson and Derek Fisher??? Go get Mike James and JJ Redick and the problem is fixed. I understand Redick's game is average in other aspects, but scoring wise this guy has a chance to be an impact player, and on offense this guy fits the team most. The talent plus fitness level makes him a very enticing player at the 8th spot.
Posey has size and most importantly has greatest impact was on defense. He took charges left and right and can play some solid on the ball defense. Redick's biggest issue is has LACK of defensive ability.
No, it is not. He is a great college player who is going to be a heck of a pro player...all around. Mark this down. Barring injury, Redick will have one of the best careers out of all the players in the draft. DD
Interesting editorial article from Michael Wilbon in today's (Sunday's) Washington Post... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/24/AR2006062400847.html
The notion that Redick can't get his shot off in the NBA is absurd, but forecasting stardom for him is a reach. The wide-ranging opinions about him -- even scouts disagree dramatically -- is part of what will be so fun about seeing where one of college basketball's most intriguing player will start his pro career Wednesday night. Listen to that, DaDakota. For both Redick AND Vince Young.
