I'm really curious as to how all this will pan out. I think Morey can pull of a great deal with the picks that we've accumulated.

Noooo! We must hold on to the 23rd pick. It's not just a normal pick but a Magic pick!
That's interesting... I proposed trading the "half a pick" as part of a package to move up in another thread. Glad to see that Morey is following my creative thinking.

I really want the Twolves #2 pick. This team needs a star more than anything, and I really do believe Derrick Williams has the tools to become one, maybe even more so than Kyrie Irving.

Chron fail on the article pic. Jimmer won't be able at 14 and definitely not at 23.

It's interesting to know they think this is a loaded draft class. IMo only 3 players will be good and about 4 more who will be solid vets. But i trust what they are doing. I'm all for Dwight Howard and CP3. I think if you can get one the other will follow. Also, they will be selecting the best available player to go with their collection of assets. Motiejunas would be considered an asset in a Howard or Paul trade.

    Projectile vomiting alert!

    :(

If we lose our 2012 picks for anything other than a superstar, it might be the final straw for me.

This has no chance of happening. Why does everyone keep posting about a fairytale?

People who makes these suggestions need to explain why a young rich superstar would choose Houston over LA, NY, or Chicago.

Seriously. I would be very cautious dealing that NY pick. We are one Amare knee injury from striking gold in with that pick. I'm not wishing an injury to him but it's definitely possible that he may get injured and should be taken into consideration. If we trade that pick, it better be for a star.

Once again, we are titillated with some huge deal that Morey is about to make. Logic suggests we be skeptical, given the history.

But, OMG, COULD THIS REALLY HAPPEN? COULD WE PULL OFF, SAY, THE #2 PICK AND STILL KEEP OUR VALUED PLAYERS?

damn, that's exciting. Wake me when it's over.

Wait, i might be wrong. Guess you can if you are trading for a 1st round pick this year?

Also you guys need to look up the meaning of the word "deeper". If a draft class is deep you don't trade up, you instead try to get more picks to get more talent available. Right now if I were DM i'd try to cash in Hill, Thabeet and T-will for picks, or improve the quality of the picks we do have. However IMHO the only top pick worth getting at this point is Valanciunas. Derrick Williams has a 80% of being a bust, 19% chance of being a decent player in the L. There's virtually no chance he'll be worth a 2nd pick. A ton of the guys between 10-20 seem like keepers to me, Lewad, Tobias Harris, Jimmer, Marshon Brooks and of course Jeremy Tyler look to be very interesting.

Yeah same here, I was talking to my brother about Williams and after showing him some highlights, we both agreed that he's got the potential to become an absolute stud... It would be awesome to get him, depending on what we would have to give up of course...

Also, we both think that trading up to get the 2nd pick and then trading that pick to help get a star sounds nice too.

That pick is top 5 protected. If Amare goes down with an injury there's a chance we could lose it altogether.

Why? 2012 is a deep draft. But I'm not going to cry over losing hypothetically a 14th or later pick. That's where we'll be picking if the Rockets move up and actually draft someone decent this year.

Your logic only make sense if the Rockets have decided to clean house for tanking.

Derrick Williams is pretty much the guaranteed quality player from the draft, whether he becomes a star, no one has a clue, but barring complete mental shutdown, he has a quality shot (57% from the college 3 is wtf territory for a 6'8 player) and a great physical presence, it's highly unlikely that he becomes a flop.

And he's probably better served as a small forward at nba level where he'll have a distinct physical advantage over most of his opponents rather than power forward which would be a slight disadvantage in a lot of cases.
