Purpura was awful, but really how many good players have the Astros drafted in the last few years of Hunsicker?

Pence is all that comes to mind, and that was Hunsicker's final draft. Zobrist from the same draft.

Wang is all that comes to mind, but that is a crap shoot. Depends on how much he would want to if it was worth the gamble. I'm guessing the Yankees believe he is still injured and thats why they've only offered a minor league deal.

I'm fairly certain we have a pretty good 1-2 combo right now in Oswalt and Wandy. I'm happy with giving Bud Norris the #3 slot right now, but I'd rather they found one more starter. The less we have to rely on Moehler/Paulino/etc etc., the better.

There are some guys out there that could throw 200 quality innings...........Baker,Hernandez,Cain,Verlander,Greinke,Danks,Wainright, and many more. But alas when you ask what we could give them it makes it tougher....We have great position players and I'd be willing to give up one of our best depending on who we could pick up to get an ACE......Of course,I'm hesitant to part with Hunter(and I only would do this because you have to give to get),but if that's what it took I'd do it. I know we don't have the prospects, but there is a load of good sticks on the big club.

Roy and Wandy are stout...Roy tore it up in the second half and Wandy learned to pitch away from home. That said, I believe we need someone who we know what we're getting each time out and a guy who is going to give us 7 in each stint....One more guy to contend.I'm tired of coming up just short because we don't want to go that extra yard. Tejada really surprised me the way he held up all year.I'd rather not deal Hunter and move Tejada but can't see another team taking anything less for what we're talking about.

no way in hell you get Greinke or Wainwright. Come on, now. "many more" -- then name them.

precisely. It's not that easy. Therefore, "they better get a #2 or else they're showing they're not committed" isn't a very smart take.

Oh, I agree with you, and have said as much as recently as this morning. Hunsicker's last few years and Purpura's short tenure were nothing short of destructive for the farm system. Going to the Show was great, though.

We have to acquire pitching and can't be shy about doing it. With the sticks on the field and what we have the Astros need to be very aggressive.I know we just picked up Lyon, and that's a step in the right direction...Give me more.

Unfortunately,I'm very skeptical of Drayton filling this obvious hole when he's looking to sell.....It doesn't fit his modus operandi in any case.

Obviously msn, Im frustrated with DRAYTON.It goes back aways... I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but......perhaps patience is the word here.

I hope he sells the team.

.....and I do think it would be easier to bring in an inning eater than you seem to think. But of course I want it yesterday.

My passion goes back to our old boards and beyond....and you have always been a voice of reason...so,we'll see partner.

Ah -- you think the Astros can be competitive this year. I really don't. :(

    But Go Astros! nonetheless.

I've never understood the frustration. I remember the receivership days and the McMullen days. I'm looking at all these FA acquisitions and huge trades where we *get* a big name. And all the playoff deals. And all the huge payrolls. And I see a guy who's trying -- who's not above some legitimate criticism -- but who's trying.

really, now? what was your handle back in the days?
