No, let’s completely alienate two great starters while we dream of Jimmy who is going to have plenty of options to join teams with cap space. Enjoy trying to negotiate an extension with Eric after this.

Mike doesn’t play his bench, outside of the first 2 players, much in the playoffs anyway. Just look at Faried

There’s way too much useless information nowadays. I’m sure there’s an audience for this, but I don’t particularly care until a deal is signed. The reporting on the negotiations and posturing is just noise. It’s just teams and agents using media members for leverage.

I'm in total agreement with you here Nook. It's all on Morey and Tilman. They leak stupid information.
CD didn't do it as much as these guys.

This has to be a Tilman thing. I don’t remember soooo many leaks in the Morey era.

It is a 2019 thing. Social media gives rumors more weight.

The CP3 deal was only 2 years ago. I don’t remember so many articles.

Oh this PR spree is pretty clearly Tilman, but nationally I think it’s similar. The athletic provides a local outlet for the team to speak to. It’s almost like having a second large newspaper in town.

That’s what I don’t get. Why do the Rockets do this stuff so publicly? What is gained by them advertising their interest in Butler to the media?

Vegas has Rockets as the top team to land Butler, at even money.

Unless they have an under-the-table agreement with Butler’s camp (violating NBA tampering rules), his point is quite valid. If it doesn’t come to pass, you have pissed off Eric Gordon and Capela by making all of your intentions public. So either you have to move on from them or figure out how to earn their trust back again.

Internally I'm hoping that they are still trying to push the opt in scenario.

I think that's the only scenario they have, isn't it?

No. They could move both Gordon and Capela in a three-team S&T for Butler at the max and hard cap themselves at the apron.
