    Astros trade OF Lane to Padres

    The Astros have shipped outfielder Jason Lane to San Diego for a player to be named later or cash.

    The team announced the deal tonight.

    Lane, once the most-prized prospect in the Astros organization, hit just .178 in 68 games with the team this season. He's a .241 career hitter with 61 home runs in 494 games.

    The Padres must like out burnt out players, Redding, Ensberg and now Lane. Who's next, Ausmus?

    Cash or a player to be named later. Hmm. OK, player to be named later could be Rickey Henderson, Richard Hidalgo or Jose Lima. As for cash, maybe a couple hundred bucks and a case of Dos Equiss. Naw, player to be named later for sure (Morgan Ensberg?) Ha ha! -CF
