Good to hear them taking the responsibility. They will have no problems scoring on anyone so if they can step up defensively too then they become even more dangerous...

And so they've been warned. Get the job done or we'll be tempted to get someone who will.

Kevin is starting to sound like TMac back in those days, when he said all the right things to the media.

Let's hope he is not just all talk.

Maybe with all the minute limiting talk and using the whole roster will make us better defensively as a team. Go all out for shorter stints and then make a roster switch.

I was thinking yesterday and the one big question mark on this team is defending at the 1 and 2 positions, other than Yao that is. Brooks and Martin our starters at those positions are not known for their defense. This is exactly what has been bothering me about this team, im glad its somewhat being addressed, but it remains to be seen. Martin and Brooks can be exploited bc of their size by 1s and 2s that post up. Our second unit with Lowry and Lee are much better defensively it seems.

TMAC would have never come out and said that coach told him he needs to improve his defese, he would make it like it was his idea to meet with brooks to ocus on defense and he was not going to play defense anyways and blame it on others or not having a center like shack to back him up.

Brooks found a way to get those shots off in the paint surrounded by much taller players. Martin found ways to score and get to the basket while usually being guarded by bigger, stronger players. They can find ways to make up for their weaknesses on defense, too. Look at Chuck Hayes, speaking of being resourceful and always being out-manned but still holding your own.

All they have to do is put in the time and the hard work. Neither one of them is ever gonna be considered a top tier defender but all they have to do is improve enough to make a difference.

Yup. Single out the 2 worst defenders. Force them to step it up.

The fact that they will have a true shot blocker with size in the game for at least 24 minutes will make everybody's defense much much better. The team still needs another rim protector, lets hope Dampier eventually signs with the rockets.

TMac said all the right things to the media?

At the time I would have agreed, but in retrospect even when he came in the excuses were already there. Remember the trips to Waco for his back massage? To his credit, he didn't start throwing teammates under the bus until his last couple of years here.

This is a tradition: Adelman's annual pilgrimage to talk about defense... once per season, before the season starts.

    j/k I totally ride the Monacle's jock.

they just need to play the fundamental defense, staying in front of his guy and letting his guy to shoot over them or to become a jump shooter. both of them have a quick first step and they should be able to make it happen. they need to remember yao and other bigs behind them can protect rim in case they are overrun by big opponents.

It has something to do with defending, I think.
