Media aside. If the rockets decided to keep Paul, he is a HOF player and can teach young players ; include if the rockets mentor a young pg down the road. The media is acting like the rockets will be doomed if they dont trade Paul lol. Houston is still a 55+ win team with Paul/Harden. This is starting to get crazy tbh.
He’s not a bad player. Just not playing up to his lofty expectations that come from his $40 million a year contract. The only way this Harden and CP3 era is going to work is both those guys playing like all-stars / superstars and being available when needed. If not ,CP3’s contract is going to make it hard for the Rockets to upgrade their roster moving forward and even find young players that he can mentor.
what if cp3 comes back 100% kicking butt this season? Wonder how people would act. I take this probably more than a big gamble out there in trades, which could turn sour in heartbeat by unloading a huge contract,. everyone knows paul is still coming off a lingering injury in which he forced to play threw.
I would trade him for Dragic and Hassan just to get out of that contract. They would be better with Harden than in Miami. They're also expiring and could be traded later for other players. If Hassan was in play I would look to move Capela in a separate deal for another wing impact player. I'm not saying Murray should do that but at least it's worth looking into it just to get out Chris' contract.
He does a lot of the same things that are other max contract does and we need the cap space to field a team. The OP is right he is HOF player but he is redundant here and like it or not this is Harden’s team.
no one is saying he's bad but he's certainly not good enough to be getting paid that much money which sucks up all our cap space
He's a ball dominant point guard that can no longer create space to make plays or score consistently. All that talk about Harden not moving, Chris Paul stands in the corner most of the time with his hands on his knees and watches Harden.
Trading Paul for Whiteside and Dragic is not something the Rockets should seriously consider. Unless the goal is to get demonstrably worse. Also, the free agent class in 2020 is terrible outside of Anthony Davis. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...is-draymond-green-and-the-top-15-overall/amp/
We’ve gone from “Paul is a bonafide superstar who can carry us when Harden rests” to “he’s not THAT bad....”
