Where Cowherd screws up is when he claims Harden is a "system guy". Harden finished runner-up in the MVP to Steph Curry in 14-15 when Kevin McHale was the coach, Harden was 6th MOY when he was at OKC under Scotty Brooks. Harden has been a good player since he has entered in the NBA under multiple coaches. So he's not anywhere close to just a "system guy".

He did, but I think he meant Cavs because he mentioned Love and Hood.

Well, at least the argument now is if it should be unanimous or not.

What about when Harden was destroying people while being "coached" by McHale? Was it the system then?

And was Curry not in a system surrounded by all-stars when he won his MVP?

I'll waive the "system" argument for Westbrook though -- unless you count chucking 23 points on 25 shots as a system.

There's like obvious counter to this "system" argument.

How about Chris Paul? How come his numbers are not inflated by MDA even though he plays the exact same role as Harden?

    Debate over.

    The system thing is stupid.

Harden was 2nd in mvp under Mchale.

You can make the same argument against curry having inflated numbers playing in Kerr’s system.

I never saw curry avg 30 a game until Kerr? Guess it’s the system guys.

Doubly insane is no one else calling him out on that. When he said it I just KNEW he’d get done push back.

Not even a peep from the other morons up there.

But that’s just it, they’re all morons.

James would say "that's what he's supposed to say, right? Who cares?".

Isn't the fat black guy the one who completely f'd up the "Black Grantland"

    https://deadspin.com/how-jason-whitlock-is-poisoning-espns-black-grantland-1698683962

I keep saying the same thing, but, truly, these people HAVE ZERO special knowledge of sports. The average hard core sports fan is, typically, MUCH MUCH MUCH more intelligent than almost ALL of these talking heads. This is true, precisely because in order to be successful and get on these shows, you have to be (1) someone who likes to talk, loudly, (2) that says VERY CONTROVERSIAL stuff, and has gotten good at one thing, which is (3) working the "system" to work their way up.

If you listen to sports radio, for example, most of these shows have these behind the mic producer types... typically guys that are in their 20's-30's. A couple times an hour, a show, or whatever, they'll join in the conversation for 5 minutes. And you'll be listening and think, well... there's a logical person, why doesn't that guy have a show?? And its precisely because they're logical. So instead of getting a show, they are forced to produce one.

The absolute best guy that has bucked this trend is Adam Schein... Schein on Sports.

Relative to the NBA, in particular, if you listen to NBA XM Radio, you'll find for the most part, they've bucked this trend across their lineup. Most of those guys are VERY pro analytics, pro stats, pro intelligence. Interestingly, often its the former player cohosts (Brandon Haywood, Eddie Johnson, Sam Mitchell) who push back against this. But you know that's just because they're former players now "intimidated" by the changing of the game through sports sciences. And even in their pushback, it's minimal and intelligent.

End of rant, but long story short... ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ever listen to ESPN, Fox Sports, etc, etc. Stick to radio and stick to NBA Radio, NFL Radio, Mad Dog Sports...
