Wait...... We can just brush the dust off of the late great royce whites tour bus. Problem solved- no more plane rides.
How long has Bosh been out of the league now - 3 or 4 years at least? I wish the guy well and would take him in a heartbeat if he were healthy and capable, but the odds of both of those things being true are extremely low given he hasn't been in the league in years, and he hasn't been cleared by doctors to play in that same period of time. He would be in the declining age even if he had been in the league all this time but since he hasn't been able to play a lot of organized basketball since then - I don't think it's going to happen for him. Pro level athletes look rusty after missing a few weeks - if you missed a few YEARS, I think the expectations are pretty low for you.
Only Rockets are deep enough to carry AND pay a part time player. If clots can be controlled by thinners plus staying home for away games, Bosh would be perfect complement to Ryno and his issues at home. For playoffs dust of the White mobile. Now we just need some physician to sign off. Rockets was first team out of Bush's mouth, this season is getting even crazier. Rather have Bosh than Speights. Black is just a placeholder right now.
He's not going to play another game in the NBA, and it's not due to ability. He is too high of a health risk.
He would be a fantastic fit and even if he was just 70% of how he was in his final year, the rockets would immediately be the favorites even over GS. He’s like the perfect fit at PF for this team. But the risk is to high the PR would be crazy and not in a good way. Even if he played an nothing happens. The stories every day work read “is this the day” Just not worth it from a organizational standpoint overall even though on the court he is a great fit even at 33.
yeah id love to see him play again. Im sure the money isnt a big deal, he just wants to do what he loves.
We don’t know all the details on his medicals, but it certainly is concerning that he has had recurrent issues with blood clots (VTE/PE’s). The best case scenario is that he was on steroids, and now he’s not, so you theoretically removed the precipitating factor. Worst case scenario is that he has some sort of thrombophilia or prothrombitic disorder which will continue to affect him the rest of his life. In that setting, any traumatic episode could precipitate a catastrophic event (saddle embolus, possibly even a stroke). All in all, I wouldn’t risk it. 1. Him going down midgame would be a huge dampener on team morale for the rest of the season; and 2. He could, you know, die.
Other athletes play with same risk, interesting. https://www.sbnation.com/2016/9/16/12930492/chris-bosh-blood-clots-miami-heat-thinners-examples
A lot to consider here .....First and foremost, of course...Chris's health....While I know there are no guarantees in this life...He needs to have some extremely favorable consults from top guys for it to even be a consideration. (which I'm sure he has at this point or we wouldn't be having this conversation) It sounds like he's been ballin, and is in shape ..NBA game shape? Likely as close as you can get without being on the Association's hardwood ...just been waiting for this window. Bosh would fill a huge role at whatever % he is. And we need to keep him away from GS. I can't help but worry about another Hank Gathers <3 situation. That said, it sounds like DM needs to go get the one that got away. Oh, the irony.....storybook endings.
Just having his championship experience on bench and locker room would be amazing. Morey gets another player that jilted him as well as another Team USA player/former All-Star. And if he can contribute 10 minutes as stretch 5 every 3rd or 4th game, that's just cherry on top of the sundae.
true, but i think chris's risks are a little higher than what others are, i think thats the issue. Even if its 10%. And one day he drops dead at a game. everyone will be in an uproar.
Agreed, I would love to see him play again and play here but this is fool's good. I highly doubt doctors will clear him. It would be beyond tragic, it would be criminal if someone let him back on a court and something happened. You just don't take those kind of chances. That is a good young man with a family that had a successful career. That problem didn't disappear, its genetic. Thankfully, he survived the last two instances but we'll never know how close he came to real danger.
I agree that Bosh case could be different. Another interesting tidbit is that Dream was treated by Rockets team physician for blood clots throughout his career. Crazy! https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/80453318
