Are Chinese Americans offended by this? Enough to vocally say anything against great motherland? Even stop biz prospects? Didun think so.

CNN: China Disinformation Campaign rages on

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday that the US is attempting to defame the Chinese government, shift responsibility and find a scapegoat, calling claims by American officials that the virus originated in Wuhan "immoral and irresponsible."

"I think many people, when the pandemic, first started, thought, this is an opportunity for global cooperation," Dr. Matthew Kroenig, a former Defense Department and CIA official who now works as a professor at Georgetown University, told CNN.

"What we've seen instead is that it's just become a new arena for this great power rivalry to play out," he said, adding that autocratic regimes, and China in particular, are using disinformation to try to advance other geopolitical goals, namely positioning itself as a responsible global leader.
The ongoing war of words has been fueled by allegations from top administration officials that China is actively spreading disinformation about the virus' origins in an effort to cast blame on the US, and other nations, for the current global pandemic.

Earlier this month, China's ambassador in Washington was summoned to the State Department over a tweet from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lijian Zhoa amplifying a growing conspiracy theory that the coronavirus did not originate China and may have been brought there by the US Army.

"When you have the Chinese ambassador and the foreign minister saying through their propaganda machine that the United States military somehow concocted this virus and spread it in China, it's absolutely false," Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told CNN in an interview Monday.

"Everybody knows the truth here, and the truth needs to come out. And they don't want the truth to come out. That's why they're starting this disinformation campaign," he said.
    --
US officials have been closely monitoring China's disinformation efforts and attempted to push back on the increasing number of false claims from Chinese officials over the last month.

Yet China's disinformation campaign is ongoing, US officials warn, pointing to comments that were made on Sunday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lijian Zhoa in which he suggested the virus started in the US dating back to September 2019 and that those with the flu at that time were misdiagnosed.
    --
"I think he does enjoy a relationship with President Xi. He wants the trade, you know, the trade deal to work. At the same time, he recognizes where this virus came from," McCaul said about Trump.

"You know I don't call it the Chines virus. I call it the coronavirus or Covid-19. But the fact remains, where did this come from? It came out of the wildlife markets in Wuhan, and it spread beyond control outside of China. For nearly two months, there were many things they could've done to contain the virus, and they failed to do that. And I think they need to be held accountable,"

Seriously, I'm beginning to think Putin and Russia are better allies.
The entire world knows this originated in China.

If the corporations of the world see what they are doing now, they should all bail and send their manufacturing to Africa, South America, or India.

Look calling it the Chinese virus is bad cause people associate Chinese with people

They should have just called it the Xi Virus for Winnie the Pooh

Yet they are complacent DESPITE what wikipedia says. Not buying your argument but hey you really did make a nice go of it. Should the allies have said oh these nazis sure aren't that bad because only a few of them work the gas chambers? Screw that man. No I am not OK with China and its disgusting practices that it tolerates and promotes. If you want to get out of generalizations we can talk about why it's communism and extreme political movements fueling this, but this is China today man. If you can't see that then there is no hope for you.

Question for you.. was the culture of the South during the 1800s not racist? I mean not all of them owned slaves.

I think you are giving them too much credit. Sounds more like simple incompetence and greed. This caught them badly off guard and the reason why they tried to suppress info and acted late while it spread across and killed Chinese citizens outside wuhan is the same reason Trump's first reaction was to downplay the severity of the disease, and hasn't banned interstate travel yet - their first concern was the economy and staying in power. Letting the disease burn through your own country in the hope that it would harm the US 3 months later is a comically stupid plan. Many will remember how their loved ones died, the draconian measures taken and how the authorities reacted for a long, long time. There is no WIN for them here.

They didn't let it burn through their country. They locked down... except their airports. There were tons of their travelers around the world spreading it in the middle of their own lock down. So the A: knew it was serious and needed a lock down and simultaneously B: didn't stop their travelers from spreading it.

I'm sure that's true, especially since China is a seething mass of maybe 1,400,000,000 people. But "I want to see full pews in the churches on Easter and America back to work by then" and our own Lt Gov with "let's get back to work and let Memaw and Pepaw worry about dying" (paraphrasing, of course) doesn't show much love for humanity, either.

People are often seen as expendable. Lose some, you still have others. How is it stated? If 5 people die, that's a tragedy. If 10,000,000 people die, it's a statistic.

The culture of the South STILL is racist. You must be one of those people who think the confederate flag is an innocent symbol of southern pride.

And you still haven't posted a single fact in all your posts to back up your claim the majority of Chinese support eating dog meat and even what dog meat has to do with the spread of viruses. Not one single fact.

Your true colors (or lack of color) is showing.

It is just powerful people, and governments do not represent what people think 1 to 1.

Otherwise Dan Patrick would speak for people, willing to sacrifice the lives of old people for the economy.

You are an idiot if you really think a communist dictatorship and the USA are comparable in that way. We have people calling them out about their bad values in America but in Communist China that **** doesn't happen. You can't speak out.

Google your own questions mate. And funny how you condemn the South because of a few flags but you can't handle the truth about China's dog eating. You proved my point nicely. Good day.

actually, the opposite has been true.

China shut down Wuhan, a city w population > 10 million, in order to curtail / contain the spread of the virus, to flatten the curve.
