It seems we could probably have a neat discussion about this experiment. https://www.newsweek.com/seattle-capitol-hill-autonomous-zone-chaz-protests-1510141
So it’s either extreme policing or no policing. Can we just get sensible rational policing with a side of congressional reform?
Sounds like the occupy wall street folks are coming out of the woodwork. Honestly this is just one extended protest.
All I will say is that at some point we stopped expecting the police to be members of the community and peace keepers and expected them to be defacto military. The police are not the military. Also no one wants to admit it or discuss it, but a lot of the problem is incredible numbers of guns in the USA. Police officers are on constant guard because they can be shot by one of the hundreds of millions of guns in the USA.
I don’t know how got that from what I said. You asked what would happen if right wing extremists took over a city, and I pointed out that happened in the South. It happened in the lifespan of some of the posters on these boards.
So Seattle police officials and law officials say they have no indication that the area is being controlled by ANTIFA. Seattle police are still available and are answering calls. What seems to be lost in all of this is WHY all of a sudden have their been protests for nearly two weeks? Why did the President have to build fencing around the White House and need to hide in a bunker? Why have prominent companies and institutions come out in support of BLM? Why have the most well respected and prominent Generals taken the President to the wood shed? Why is all of this happening?
So, why aren't we sending the police in to regain control of the area? If there's a leader, it's a de facto gang and gang territory. No reason for the police not to break it up... If they're trying to divorce themselves from the United States, they're doing it all wrong, and the police should show up in masse, with charges and break it up.
