UCF/Memphis has been a lot of fun so far.

As the game has picked up, the conversation has been increasingly game-focused, but it speaks to the plight of good teams in the AAC that there was a lot of first quarter conversation about Frost and Nebraska and the possibility of Norvell moving on from Memphis as well.

The first one was particularly egregious. Cost TCU a stop there.

In other college football news, Mississippi QB Shea Patterson has been granted a waiver to essentially open up his recruitment to transfer elsewhere.

This is going to be a huge get for another program (assuming he ends up going through with the transfer). He put up some pretty impressive numbers in a less-than-ideal situation before going down with an injury.

If you're not there already, get over to ABC. Memphis and UCF are tied at 48 with about four minutes left. With these two teams, that's enough time for five or six more touchdowns.

Wow Memphis just got bailed out by that delay of game penalty.

For the second time on that drive. Earlier, they had a massive negative play negated by a delay.

I wonder if UCF fans know they just lost Scott Frost to Nebraska.

As quickly as news travels, and with as much as your average college student looks at their phone, even at a game like this, word has to be making the rounds pretty quickly in the stadium.

Wonder if he stays for the bowl game if UCF wins.

Very, very unlikely. That only happens in very rare situations, and with Nebraska desperate to get their program going again and an early signing period deadline coming up, I'm guessing he'll be on the road recruiting by tomorrow afternoon.

UCF has given us two of the best games of the season in back-to-back weeks. The USF game last week and now this classic. What a fun, fun team.

Really random, but this is an interesting story- LINK

The gist is this: with a New Mexico State win over South Alabama (NMSU leads 13-7 in the 3Q), the Aggies would be eligible to go to a bowl game, which would be their first such game since 1960, but because it's not uncommon for programs to lose money on bowl games, and NMSU is a particularly cash-strapped athletic department, their administration has publicly stated that they only bowl game they can afford is the Arizona Bowl in Tucson, and if they don't get slotted there, they would be compelled to decline an invitation. So what should be a huge moment of celebration for NMSU could end up being a huge bummer.

For that matter, even if they do have the chance to go play in the Arizona Bowl, it's still kind of a huge bummer, as that is almost undoubtedly the worst bowl slot. For one, it's the only bowl game that does not have a set payout for teams involved. Rather, it ties payout figures to how much revenue the game brings. I'm guessing that number is going to end up being between "nothing" and "basically nothing." It's also one of just a handful of bowl games that aren't on ABC or ESPN in some form or fashion (or a network like CBS, which has the Sun Bowl, as usual). It's being broadcast on CBS Sports Network, which has a relatively small distribution. Although, to be fair, that's an upgrade over the previous two editions, when the game was broadcast on something called the American Sports Network and online at CampusInsiders.com.
