I am surprised the Celtics made the deal without some sort of contingency. Sounds like they are happy with two other possibilities. As an 80's NBA fan, I love the Celtics-Lakers angle here. Celtics are forcing the Lakers to make a decision at #2, and the Celtics likely own the Lakers pick in the future. The rivalry continues.
with the first pick of the 2017 nba draft, the boston celtics select the 3rd pick, the 2018 LA lakers first round pick, and a future 76ers first round pick
Great haul for the Celtics. Especially if they can land Hayward in Free agency and then move assets for a player like Butler or PG or even Cousins.
Celtics updated inventory (I think): 2017 first from Philadelphia (#3 overall) 2018 first from Brooklyn (unprotected) 2018 first from LA Lakers (protected) 2018 first (their own) 2019 first from LA Clippers (lottery protected in '19 & '20; otherwise '22 2nd round pick) 2019 first from Memphis (protected 1-8 in '19; 1-6 in '20; unprotected in '21) 2019 first (their own) Daryl would have traded half of those already. (Myself too)
Fultz is pretty impressive..... it really comes down to how good Josh Jackson is. The Celtics likely take him and he will always be compared to Fultz.
I don't know about this. You get all those Nets picks hoping the lottery balls delivers the #1 pick, then you Push it ...to again say "Look at all the picks we have." Weird to me.
I think Ainge will most likely deal the picks and Josh Jackson to Bulls. Celtics looking to grab Butler / Hayward. And still have a few picks the next few years.
@BobbyMarks42: The league changed the rules last July allowing teams to put protection on unprotected picks they had received in a previous trade. Example: PHI can protect the Lakers pick top 2. If BOS doesn't receive that pick, PHI would send their own 2018 first. ...and the Sixers? How good can/will they be? Obviously ignoring Cavs & Warriors Fultz-Covington-Simmons-Saric-Embiid or some variation of that.
