Why would CP3 give up his Bird Rights and leave a contender in the Clippers? If he is re-signed to a bird contract, he cannot be traded by the Clippers this off-season. If he leaves in a sign and trade, he loses his Bird Rights benefits. And the Clippers are a team closer to contending than Houston. Not to mention the bigger market in LA. And why would the Clippers take an injured and arguable downgrade in Rondo?

Perchance Chris Paul and Dwight Howard talk and decide they want to form a big 3 with Harden? That is the dream. No, probably won't happen. But if it did, Clippers couldn't do better than Rondo. Unless they wanted Lin and a couple youngsters themselves.

The point is we have flexibility to get better through trades and taking advantage of these kinds of situations when they arise.

I don't see it happening. Dwight and Deron supposedly had similar plans, and we all saw how that worked out. At least that had some plausibility and they were talking. And both of them were dissatisfied with their teams, lack of talent around them, small market in Orlando and NJ (not yet Brooklyn at the time) and considering leaving. Deron eventually got satisfied by the move to a bigger market in Brookly, and the perceived talent upgrade moves like Josh Smith. And Dwight waived his ETO to get his extra year's money and keep his bird rights over leaving to join Dwill.

There is no such indication of CP3 being dissatisfied with the contending situation the Clips are in, surrounded with talent like Blake Griffin. And there is even less indication that Dwight or CP3 are talking about leaving LA together, much less playing in Houston. It's not even a pipe dream, since there is little speculation or rumor or interest to found such a pipe dream on. CP3 is in a great situation in LA. Big market (with the benefits of being in Hollywood like his new State Farm money), contending team, talent and depth around him, great system that he works well in, bigger money contract, constant media exposure next to Hollywood, etc. Oh, and no cable TV blackout or empty Toyota Center seats.

LOL, in your dream, my friend. If you had a billion bucks sitting somewhere to convince Les to sell the team to you, then it's a different story.

A combo of Avery Bradley & CLee to play off Harden at guard would be a great fit in most areas except they're not very good at bringing the ball up the court.

Beverley is a joke who can't shoot. 18% from three-point range the past ten games. A ball dominant guard who basically sucks doesn't fit alongside Harden and Lin and won't help the Rockets in the playoffs.

Why would we trade our young players with upside (Lin hasnt even played a full 82 game season) for an aging player who is about to retire?

Side Note- Who will be the 2 PG rotations if that happened?

KG isn't going anywhere, he's too old anyway. Lin is our next biggest option after Harden. They aren't trading him. We have a handful of scrubs to trade...

Pretty much everybody on Boston's roster is grossly overpaid, and I don't see Boston trading Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett. Houston will have zero interest in any of Boston's overpaid junk (e.g., Jeff Green, Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, Brandon Bass). Boston would possibly be willing to trade a second round pick for Toney Douglas, and Houston would be all over that, but there would need to be a player coming back to Houston, and Boston doesn't seem to have a player who would work. Fab Melo doesn't make enough money, so the contracts wouldn't add up (Melo's and Douglas' contracts, that is).

If you could get a third team involved, that might work. Something like this:

    Toney Douglas to Boston

    Fab Melo to Phoenix

A Celtics second round pick and Sebastian Telfair (expiring contract) to Houston

This gets Houston something of value (a second round pick) for Douglas, which is more than you get for Douglas when he signs with somebody else this summer (in which case you get nothing for the guy).

If the Rockets want a combo of upside and upgrade...

    Bradley
    Harden
    Parsons
    Patterson
    Asik

Avery Bradley, Courtny Lee, Fab Melo and Jeff Green could help us out.
