If all the Cavs are offering is cap relief with Wallace (possible retirement), everyone knows the Nets can get much more.

 

The Cavaliers front office is a joke. They don't need a better backcourt when they have LeBron. They need a better frontcourt with some low post threat. The Cavaliers have no offense on the block with Ben Wallace, Anderson Varejao, and Big Z (who shoots threes).

While it will take some of the offensive load off of LeBron, this isn't a championship contender move.

 

What? This'll be Ron Artest II, if it pushes. Wallace and Pavlovic barely have more value than Jackson and Greene.

 

They should have gotten Shaq when then could.

 

But it doesn't complement LeBron. The Cavaliers are overloaded in the backcourt with no offense created within 15 feet of the basket. Their best post scorer is Delonte West, an undersized SG. Adding Vince Carter will not solve their problems with their pitiful front court.

I agree; except, all they'll be giving up get Vince Carter are Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic. The only thing that can make it a bad move is a better trade becoming available - what more can they get for what they have?

 

They should go after TMac

 

The Cavs would be better off with Shaq then Vince. They need a low post presence and Shaq gives them that. Vince would only mirror most of James' game.

 

The Cavs keep trying to aim too big. They need a big guy with range, someone like that hack Okur. Vince would work then in that situation if you got rid of Big Z and Wallace clogging up the lane, seriously all the Cavs need is 4 guys who can shoot and Lebron... draw the bigs out and Lebron goes to work if he gets stuck down its pass out and knock it down.. I honestly think its as simple as that to get them a championship, their D is one of the best so no problems there.

A good GM would be looking for trades that address needs. Cavaliers don't need another backcourt player. If they learned anything from their playoff run, it's their pitiful frontcourt couldn't hold a candle to the good teams. They are better off waiting for a decent big man than trading for Vince Carter now.

I don't know much about contracts or how it works, but if I were the Cavaliers, I would be looking at Bosh. It's clear Bosh is gonna be ditching Toronto as soon as the summer hits, so Toronto would want to get some value out of him while they can.

Another point, I don't see this as Artest II. With Artest, we needed that third option because it was currently Rafer. We had a good backcourt player in Tracy, and a great center in Yao. Artest became that third option we could use so that T-Mac didn't have to do everything down the stretch. Morey addressed our need (a third option), but Danny Ferry has not attempted to complement LeBron with a big man as a second option.

 

Cavs need to get stronger in the middle. That is there biggest weakness.
