Oh yeah.. I have nothing against Nike, other than the fact that they use child slave labour to make their shoes.

Nothing against the idea of thousands of five year-olds working in overseas sweatshops earning pennies a day, right?

And nothing against athletes who already make millions a year getting $100,000,000 cheques to stumble over a few scripted words while they turn a blind eye to the inhuman conditions in which their pretty shoes were made.

Yeah, I have nothing against Nike.

Next time you lace up those big boys, think of the saddened eyes and calloused fingers of the little girl who made them.

Absolutely sickening.

KG signed with And1 about 2 weeks after his Nike Air Flight Posite KG's came out. That's why the newer Flight Posite KG's go by the name of Flight Posite 2 and don't have garnett's name on the back of them.

I'm not sayin sweatshops are great, but they're not that bad. The money that Nike pays the workers is a pretty decent sum compared to others that work in the countries.

I read an article about the benefits of sweatshops, and it really had some good stuff in it. And like I said, though I don't think sweatshops are real good, that article really helped to change my perspective. Don't hate on Nike so much.

It's not an uncommon thing- for companies to produce products elsewhere because it's cheap. Think about it-- basically anything except for computer chips are being made in poor countries; the infrastructure and labor are simply cheaper, thus reducing costs.

Btw,

i doubt a littel 5 year old could build a nike flightposite/air max shoe. I barely understand all the complexities of the shoes myself. Also, the shoes were made in fairly industrialized countries like, Taiwan. As far as i'm concered, Taiwan has child labor laws preventing so forth. Let's not over-react next time.

Anything "but" computer chips? Computer chips are made by the truckload overseas.

The problem people have with it isn't because it's "cheap". The problem people have is that it means small kids are being used and are getting paid minute fractions of what they could be getting paid. They are getting ripped off by large corporations who are using them to save a buck. This isn't about economics, this is about exploiting slave labor from what I've read.

Not only did Cuttino make the team, but he was part of the starting backcourt for one of the greatest frontcourts in the NBA, but that's still not making it big. Cuttino beat out the likes of Gary Payton in the NBA's first and only He Got Game Challenge. Did he make it big then? Ummm... NO. Making the NBA Sophomore/Rookie game comes close. So what says that Cuttino is one off the premier players?

In the January 22, 2001 edition of ESPN The Magazine (the one with Kobe on the cover), Nike features a two page spread of the Rockets' Superstar. This isn't to promote his new shoes that Nike released, it's to advertise Nike's Dri-Fit Stretch Top. Though Cat does have his Nikes on. In addition to wearing Nike pants and dribbling a Nike basketball. In the background, of the first page, is a street-ball court where Cuttino's flashy game and showboating attitude would feel at home.

Not only does Cuttino advertise for the stuff, he also wears it. When Mobley visited Utah to play the Jazz, he was dressed nice in his white turtle neck (Dri-Fit Stretch Top) and white pants, both made by Nike. But what I saw that I definitely knew wasn't made by Nike were his shiny snake skin boots, but rest assured Cuttino does wear his shoes while playing.

Nike - who's been in the basketball shoe market since 1973 - has always had the most dominating players in the NBA. They have been filling their shoes with the feet of Michael Jordan since his rookie season in '84 and look at him now...well maybe not now with the Wizards and all, but when he was a member of the 6-time NBA Champion Bulls. They started MJ's TV campaign in his second season (1985). Though Nike hasn't made commercials featuring the Cat, yet. Can they strike gold twice?

Mobley is part the few young Nike spokesmen that will be the future of the NBA. Players such as Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, Gary Payton, and Tim Duncan all recieve a check from Nike and so does Cuttino Mobley.

Nike will help Mobley as much as Mobley helps Nike. Nike is very good to their clients. Take Vince Carter for example, with Puma he only had one commercial in his one year with the company, but when he signed with Nike it got crazy. They started a whole new type of shoe for him, Nike Shox. They put him commercials where he dunks over a standing Gary Payton. With Cat currently kind of hidden away from the national spotlight Nike might be what he needs to show the world that he's got game.

So who would have imagined that the 41st pick in the 1998 NBA Draft would get paid to wear Nike products, rather than paying for them.

Oh my god Fadeaway. I think that you are just so rediculous! What has this got to do with Cuttino and his shoe deal? making the shoes has nothing to do with Cuttino or anyone other then the people making them! Nike maybe ripping these poor people off but that is what alot of businesses do to make a profit. I feel just as sorry for them as you but there is nothing I can do. If you are so worried and u feel Nike has no heart to do this write a complain to Nike. Don't start abusing us or basketball players or anyone who wears Nike shoes just because the way they were made. I bet you have heaps of stuff made by these poor people too. Maybe I should complain about you too! Get over it! This is just like Vegitarians. If u are or where vegitarian would you be complaining to everyone who eats meat? Besides if those people didn't make these products how well off would they be? They would be even worse then they are now. BTW, I have 2 pairs of nike shoes and I'm proud of them! And I don't give a **** where they came from as long as they don't stuff up, they stay on my feet and they do their job. Now take a deap breathe and take a reality check!
