Quarterback Carr doesn't disappoint at combine By Robert Hanashiro, USA TODAY INDIANAPOLIS — Chris Palmer has dissected the videotapes of every pass that Fresno State quarterback David Carr threw during his senior season. And then some. Palmer, the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator, saw two of Carr's games last season in person, and he spent a week eyeballing the big-time passer in practice. So there wasn't much that Carr — the front-runner to be drafted No. 1 overall by the expansion Texans in the NFL draft April 20 — could have done during the passing drills at the NFL scouting combine Sunday to alter Palmer's opinions. "You can put too much stock into what the quarterbacks do during these workouts," Palmer, back at his hotel room, said Sunday after watching the quarterback drills. "This is just part of the equation." For the record, Palmer was pleased by Carr's performance while rotating with various passers during drills. And he liked what he saw of Oregon's Joey Harrington. Harrington is viewed by many as the outside candidate to land in Houston. "All of the quarterbacks did well, under the conditions," Palmer said. "You have to remember, it's tough for them to get any rhythm, because each guy will throw a couple of passes, then the next guy will throw, and they rotate." Still, the Texans insisted that Carr, 6-3, 225 pounds, participate in the combine drills for reasons beyond seeing him complete a 20-yard out pass. "I thought it was a good statement to the other players: 'Hey, just go work out. What do you got to hide? Just go play,' " said Texans general manager Charley Casserly, who made the request to Carr's agents before the combine. "It's a huge mistake for players not to work out."
At least Tark hasn't sold his soul like that K fellow did to get JW to risk blowing out a knee via an unneccesary extra season of college BB.
